Hey, even if you accept their premise that monetary contributions, etc don’t qualify as “speech”, the government still doesn’t have any authority to put limits on who we can give our money to for what and how much.

I don't accept this premise. Its a strawman. In fact, I outright reject this premise.

That’s fine, I was just pointing out that, even if their premise were true, it wouldn’t justify putting limits on political donations.
