Ah, yes, I figured the rules were different for albino ones. My major was in non-albino, ground-limited, Skittle-pooping unicorns. Strange I haven’t been able to find a job yet. The 100k student loan is coming due.

I am not bound by the career choices of others even if I share DNA with them. Find the constitutional authority for such limitations and we can discuss it further. I’m not asking anyone to make life fair. I’ll settle for constitutional.

Why don’t we just call this “Directive 10-289”?

Or the "Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog Act"?

Because we mustn't have corporations competing for capital and labor wherever they want, or seeking advantage over competitors or, even worse: making profits. Excuse me: obscene profits - because we all know there's no other kind.

Are the hatches battened yet?

As a Certified member of the 53% (as opposed to an alleged member of the 99%, which is obviously more like 0.00001% of the 99%), some simple questions:

- Constitutional Amendment - And here I thought you all were of the opinion that the Constitution is antiquated - I guess that's only when it serves your purposes, huh?

- require ALL citizens to pay a fair share of a progressive, graduated income tax - do you realize that you would then have to pay taxes??

- Medicare for all American citizens; Passage of a comprehensive job and job-training act; Student loan debt relief; Immediate passage of the Dream Act; An immediate one year freeze on all foreclosures - and just who would pay for all of these entitlements???

My proposal for a Constitutional Amendment: All students receiving any form of government loan or scholarship must take and pass Economics 101.

“No. Enjoy sitting outside all winter. That’ll show me.”

Yep. And then go form your 3rd party once your demands aren’t met (or is that a 4th, 5th, or 6th party?), and run candidates in all elections. That’ll teach us a lesson too.

Reminds me of the Port Huron Statement - the original Port Huron Statement, not the compromised second draft. </dude>

It’s bribery, and it’s the system that makes it impossible for anyone other than Leftists and RINOs to get elected. Free speech is SPEECH. Giving money to influence someone is BRIBERY and we should never have let it flourish. And don’t start a sentence with UMMM, it makes you sound like a child.

Hey, even if you accept their premise that monetary contributions, etc don’t qualify as “speech”, the government still doesn’t have any authority to put limits on who we can give our money to for what and how much. That’s one of those unenumerated rights reserved to the people and the states.

If government can regulate political donations, then there is no practical limit to what economic activity the government can regulate, is there? We’re not talking about wages or prices or something where the government can posit a need to step in and arbitrate between two opposing groups of citizens. This is a gift that is freely given and freely accepted that the government wants the power to interfere with. There’s really no justification, except that the government WANTS to regulate it.

Yep. Replace or supplement current government regulations/laws with new/more regulations or laws by agencies with more power and expect no loopholes to be created. Morons.

I don't accept this premise. Its a strawman. In fact, I outright reject this premise.

That’s fine, I was just pointing out that, even if their premise were true, it wouldn’t justify putting limits on political donations.
