An employee at the Casa Monica Hotel in St. Augustine, Florida was asked to leave the premises for refusing to remove an American flag pin from his jacket on Wednesday. Sean May, who has worked for more than two years at the company, now faces the harsh reality of losing his job as the front desk supervisor.
May, in an exclusive interview with Townhall.com, explained that following his weekly staff meeting on Wednesday -- he was unexpectedly asked by the HR Director to remove the insignia from his uniform. When he protested the policy, he was given two options: Remove the pin or go home.
This is a Marriott hotel.
The American flag is NEVER out of place anywhere on U.S. soil. If the hotel is afraid of upsetting their visitors, then their visitors have no right to be on our soil.
“People are responding on their FB page. Lets help!”

I posted on their Facebook page.
I think the unemployment rate in st augustine, FL, is about to increase by one HR director.
that could have been handled 100 different ways, and 99 of them were better than the one that was chosen.
First the Olive Garden, now Marriott. What’s with all the hatred for the American flag among corporations(an allegedly “right-wing” entity according to the “Occupy Wall Street” crowd?)
They need someone to redo their websites. Appears that they hired someone who had discovered Flash and didn’t know much about design.
I’m figuring that the company is controlled by some wealthy lefty with inherited money.
I think the Olive Garden issue made more sense than this one. That was a big standing flag interfering with the aisles.
This is what I e-mailed and FB posted.
“What’s wrong with you people? Mr. May, by all appearances, is a decent, brave man. This was no large, gaudy, jingoistic display, it was the ensign on a tiny pin.
Are you nuts? Why would you risk the negative PR and the good will of people all over this land by this stupid choice? Fired? Really? Over a pin?
I think you’re going to discover the folly of your actions the hard way - as in your bottom line. I certainly hope so.”
Well, that's your opinion... and mine!
I hope he can sue the snot out of them, if need be.
Yes, and I will purpose to avoid staying, or doing any business with them, unless they publically take a new stand!
This America! This is the USA! We stand to be one nation, under God, “INDIVISABLE”
They fired Sean May on Friday.
Amen to that.
Love it or leave it.
I just posted a photo of an American Flag on their facebook page along with the Pledge of Allegiance. Interesting to see how long before they remove my post.
Well the flag photo is already gone.
It’s still there. Click on EVERYONE.
Wellll......let’s see if there an FLAGS OF MEXICO represented among the staff....???
Josef Stalin would be smiling if he could see how the USA has degenerated toward his point of view.
