ATF Death Watch 89: 40 Fast and Furious Firearms “Found” in Dallas(gunwalker)
The Truth About Guns ^ | 29 September, 2011 | Robert Farago

Posted on 09/30/2011 6:03:57 AM PDT by marktwain

There are so many curious aspects to the Gunwalker scandal. There are well over a thousand smoking guns still out there, somewhere. All of which prove that the ATF “lost control” of Operation Fast and Furious. But there is no single piece of evidence that answers the fundamental question about Uncle Sam’s gun running black bag job: why? What was the point of allowing bad guys to buy guns? The ATF claims they were going after the “big fish” controlling the U.S. gun stores-to-Mexican drug cartel weapons trade. That hardly seems likely—as there were no big fish to be gotten. It now looks like the ATF set about creating one. Or more. Equally damning, the ATF knew that Bureau-enabled guns were going awry a lot earlier than previously admitted . . .

A cache of assault weapons lost in the ATF’s gun-trafficking surveillance operation in Phoenix turned up in El Paso, where it was being stored for shipment to Mexico, according to new internal agency emails and federal court records.

Forty firearms along with ammunition magazines and ballistic vests were discovered in Texas in January 2010 during the early stages of the program, meaning the firearms vanished soon after the program began.

So what did the ATF do? Kept going of course. The latimes.com drills down on the logistics of the El Paso guns:

According to an ATF document, Sean Christopher Steward bought the 40 AK-47-type assault rifles on Dec. 24, 2009, from the Lone Wolf Trading Co. gun store in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix. The cache was part of 290 firearms ultimately acquired by Steward, a convicted drug felon, during the Fast and Furious operation . . .

According to ATF emails and a federal court affidavit, El Paso police officers tracking alleged drug smuggling from Mexico followed a dark blue Volkswagen Jetta as it backed into a garage at a residence on Jan. 13, 2010. The driver was identified as Alberto Sandoval. Police later searched the vehicle and found the weapons and other devices.

According to an email from ATF Special Agent Oscar B. Flores in El Paso, Sandoval told authorities that he was paid $1,000 “to store the firearms at his residence until they could be transported to the Republic of Mexico” by an unknown third party.

More emails discussing Sandoval’s arrest and the recovery of the weapons were sent to Washington headquarters and Kenneth Melson, then the ATF acting director, and William J. Hoover, the assistant director.

Sandoval was indicted and pleaded guilty to weapons charges in May 2010 in U.S. District Court in El Paso. He was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison.

The latimes.com mentions the fact that Steward was a convicted felon in passing. But that little factoid is yet more evidence that the FBI was in on Operation Fast & Furious, and not in a good way. The Agency had to game their instant background check system to let Steward’s purchases go through.

Common sense suggests that Steward knew the FBI and ATF knew that he was buying guns illegally. A convicted felon doesn’t expect to walk into a gun store and walk out with 290 firearms. If so, why the jail time? If not, why didn’t the ATF yank his chain earlier? Clearly, his tail was loose, at best.

The F&F-enabled guns went from Lone Wolf to Steward to Sandoval to a Dallas garage, in anticipation of an “unknown third party” Who somehow isn’t identified in the course of the investigation triggered when the local fuzz nab Bad Guy number two. And . . . that’s it.

As my mother likes to say, there’s no there there. No clearly delineated strategy behind Operation Fast and Furious, either in its idealized state (a “sting operation”) or in its actuation (literally incredible investigative tactics).

I still maintain that there’s an intersection between the ATF’s stingless sting and America’s federal policy towards Mexico and Mexican drug thugs. To try and view the ATF’s gun running in isolation, without examining the activities of all the other agencies implicated (DEA, IRS, CPB, ICE, FBI and the CIA), is to contemplate a diseased tree without considering the health of the forest.

Meanwhile, Mexico is on fire.

Personally, I'm becoming more and more convinced knowing what they are up to isn't any more complicated than listening to the tape of Adam Gadan (SP?) released by al Quaeda a few weeks back.

Everybody automatically assumed the terrorist had picked up on the dems talking points about guns, then released the tape calling for “Lone Wolfs” to carry out attacks with guns.

Everybody assumed wrong. The attacks were planned, then the dems came up with the talking points and a way to provide the weapons.

Why? Because this is how Marxists/socialists/communist gain power and affect change. Operation Fast and Furious became a program by the Obama administration to get another “assault weapon” ban.

1. Government has a predetermined outcome it wants (gun control)

2. The public will not allow it.

3. Government then creates a CRISIS (BATF sells guns to drug cartels)

4. The public who is suffering under the government manufactured CRISIS tell government to do something about it.

5. The Government then proposes a solution to the CRISIS (gun control)

6. The people get what they ask for (relief from the CRISIS) and the Government gets its predetermined outcome (gun control) without opposition.

Right now, the public won't stand for more gun control. So the the Justice Dept. (secretly) sells over 2,000 semi and full automatic rifles including 50 cal rifles to the Mexican drug cartels. Murder, death and mayhem are the results. Over 200 people killed in Mexico, 2 (?) US border agents killed. Increase in violent crime both in Mexico and the US.

The Marxist then propose the solution the the CRISIS - another “assault weapon” ban. Those formerly against the ban now acquiesce or even ask for it. Problem solved - we now have a new “assault weapon” ban with little opposition.

Gee, I wonder if this technique would work with the economy? They want to replace capitalism with socialism. People don't want it. So they purposely collapse the economy and the currency right before our eyes creating a CRISIS, the solution to the CRISIS is socialism to replace the “failed capitalist” system. The sheep say “Thank you Obama for saving us”.

While we're at it, why don't we just postpone the next few elections until the CRISIS is over? It is for our own good and the good of the country, you know. /sarcasm

The government was dumping American-made guns on the US/Mexico border so they could cite the prevalence of American-made guns on the US/Mexican border as proof that they needed to shut down the sale of guns to Americans.

There is NO other explanation that makes sense. And they didn't give a good goddamn who got killed with those guns, especially south of the border (where at least 200 civilians have been killed by these guns so far.)

If Mexico wasn't a thumb-sucking US dependent, they would consider it an act of war.

I agree 100%. The simplest explanation is that this is an illegal “under the radar” attempt at gun control. The End justifies the Means to these morons. People are just trying too hard to avoid the simple, obvious truth.

I think you're on the money, but this last step isn't possible, because we still have guns.

A third-term Obama would be shot, along with anybody who worked with him or tried to protect him.

Americans will eat alot of crapola, even ask for the crapola, but Americans will not eat a dictatorship.

Kind of odd that they are finding guns stockpiled here in the states.

Think it might be possible these guns were never intended for Mexico but for use here in the states?

Who would team Zippo be arming up here in the states?

This is very interesting. Arming thugs/etc HERE. Yes.

It's been reported they also allowed grenades to “walk” across the border.

That blows any gun control theory out of the water. Grenades are already controlled 100%.

My husband is a strong believer that the 2nd amendment. He says it was meant to protect from a government out of control. He says there is no way the administration was allowing the guns to cross the border so later the liberals could blame US gun dealers/gun owners and use as an excuse to take guns from US citizens. Does anyone know if there is any evidence at all to back this up? My husband says he does not like obama/liberals, but seems to side with them over me every time we have a discussion. I worry he's listening to a friend who says he's conservative, yet makes too many remarks that are liberal views.

Let him read *this* and *this.*

Go back and do a review of the attempted car bomb in NYC in 2009.

The dems and their butt boys in the MSM began the spin and talking points that the Tea Party was violent and a bunch of Tim McVeigh wannabes, low and behold there was a car bombing attempt in NYC and it was a fertilizer bomb just like the OKC bombing. The butt boy media and the left had a field day with that until the muzzie was caught, then we had silence.

Not a whole lot of doubt left that the terrorist were planning their attacks based on dem talking points.

The only thing in doubt is which came first.

Did the dems come up with talking points and then the terrorist plan the attack based on the dems talking points or was the attack planned and then the dems began the talking points for the attack.

I'm going with he latter.

IMR4350,

Your comments are right on the mark. The weapons are for 0h0lder’s people, flash mobs, etc. See PS. to LJ below.

Since, say, fall ‘09, some of us were talking about what the coward would do to stay in office. Here’s roughly what we said:

0b0z0, the grand narcissist, will NEVER run knowing he’ll lose in a landslide. The only other possibilities to stay in the WH are:

1- He runs and wins...ain’t gonna happen...OR
2- “Postponing” the election due to “violence” and imposing martial law. This is where your arguments and armaments come to play.

The Left started to float the trial balloons:

“The Re-Election of Obama by suspended elections?”

http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/40802

PS. Thanks for the ping, little jeremiah. The problem is that Dick Morris came to our side yesterday and mentioned that 0b0z0 will NOT run.

Given Dick Morris’s prediction record, 0b0z0 may run, however, it looks to me that violence is not avoidable. The union thugs and flash mobs have been training well this summer and will graduate in the spring for ‘12 summer action, which you may label as the thugs 0bummer 0lympics 2012, they think.

I think we may safely draw a line connecting the Obama-Hoffa declaration of war, the Perdue hint of a Reichstag pretext, and the Van Jones take-it-to-the-streets--

--back to the arming of the Sinaloa Cartel by the BATF and the immunity granted them by the DEA/DOJ--

--presented elsewhere as a CIA operation to stabilize Calderon.

The interests pursued here are supranational, i.e., treasonous.

The people put a radical in the most powerful position in the human political constellation--

--but not, it will be shown, more powerful than the people with their God-given rights.

Personally I believe Zippo is going to be forced out and that's what they intend to use as the “Spark to Ignite the Flame” and you will have race riots on a scale that will be nothing short of a full blown race war.

I simply don't believe that the 1960’s radicals that have been working on a plan for over 45 years to orchestrate a race war to overthrow the govt of the US and replace it with a socialist Utopia, are going to allow a two bit community organizer to become known as the “FATHER” of their Utopian dream.

I think the plan is to to get Hillary into the WH.

IMO Hilary can’t win. Lots of blacks won’t vote for her because they’ll think she’s 0h0m0’s rival. The chance of very many Rs voting for her is slim to none, and slim left town. Independents? I don’t know, she’s used goods, hideous, don’t think she has the energy for it.
