I am no McCain fan, but the man should be honored for a lifetime of public service, some of it very hard, tougher than anything I have faced.

Actually, I think these awards need to be renamed in the interest of honesty. They should be called awards for “lifetime contributions to American GOVERNMENT.”
McCain is a dreadful senator, and a horrible,horrible judge of some people's character and motives, and was NOT much of a footsoldier in the Reagan Revolution.
That said, he has contributed much, and his service record and other exemplary accomplishments are worth recognizing.
So, from a frequent political critic of John Sidney McCain...

What lifetime of public service? It was always about him. That is why he ended up in the Hanoi Hilton because of is careless judgments.
Take a good look at #1 post. I don’t remember how many people he caused to die in that accident but it was many and much more. That was only 1 of 4 accidents in which he was involved caused by him.

By the way. Panama Juan graduated 10th in his class...10th from the bottom. A real smarty.
Just think of how many jobs LT McCain created on the Forrestal!
