Karl Rove To Sarah Palin: Get A "Thicker Skin"
Real Clear Politics ^

Posted on 08/25/2011 9:01:23 AM PDT by indianrightwinger

Karl Rove responds to controversy over his speculation if Fmr. Gov. Sarah Palin will indeed enter the GOP field. Rove said chances are she will jump in, but was not definitive in his observation.

"I'm mystified," Rove said about reaction to his speculation. "Look, she is all upset about this saying how I am trying to sabatouge her in some way. How do I speculate on her future."

"Look, if she doesn't want to be speculated about a potential presidential candidate there is an easy way to end the speculation. Simply say 'I'm not running.' Instead, every time she pops up in the public eye like she did on CNN, at the Iowa State fair a short number of days ago. she said 'I haven't made a decision.'"

"I'm just speculating that more likely than not she is going to be a candidate."

"Now I said 'I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it' because it is such a close thing and I am not privy to her thought-making process. But it is sign of enormous thin-skin that if we speculate about her, she gets upset. And I suspect if we didn't speculate about her, she would be upset and getting ways to get us to speculate about her."

I believe that you are right. It’s Rove, begging for attention. And he’s not getting it so he’ll try to push some buttons.

What is troubling here is your first point, those dismal polling numbers. We are in the primary season not the coronation season and electability is ONE factor to picking a candidate. The last time we picked a candidate strictly based on him mouthing a philosophy was Barry Goldwater and that ended very, very badly. SP is no Reagan, nobody is Reagan except Reagan. Reagan honed his philosophy, governing style and message over 35 years. Not saying Sarah Palin is some dunderhead ring wing talking Cockatoo channeling Reagan, just that her style, delivery and street smarts when it comes to politics IMHO will not get it done on a national level. The numbers bear this out, not because I want it to be so, but outside the FR echo chamber it just is.

Thanks for your response. It’s good to get to know the posters on FR. Some say Welcome — others, well. . . Guess I hoped to meet some who, sharing the same conservative views, would be glad to see new posters sign on. Pax et bonum to you.

Rove probably read FR and got the idea Sarah was going to announce September 3rd. There were many threads that made that claim.

True. I wonder if they will chastise themselves for making that speculation?!

The facts are there. The reasons for her resignation are both valid and honorable.

That's right, General Burkhalter, a sitting Governor gave in to Democrat, dirty-tricks blackmailers for honorable reasons.

April 15, 2010 .... Sarah Palin income 12 million dollars since leaving office

Once upon a time in America, when faced with blackmail, Americans would proclaim,

"Millions for defense, sir, but not one cent for tribute!"

In Sarah Palin's case, she proclaimed,

"Why even think about defense when there are millions of dollars of Realty TV contracts, book sales and speaking fees to be scooped up! Ummm.... for honorable reasons, of course."

Well, my reply is that she and her family would have been bankrupted, and millions of dollars in debt. Couple that with the fact the media was reporting on each and every one of those frivilous ethics lawsuits as if she were guilty, making national headlines out of them, and turning her name to mud (and they’d never ‘report’ when she was cleared of the suits), giving the public the impression she was the most corrupt politician in existence. So, had she just stayed and ‘taken it,’ she would have been both hugely in debt and politically obliterated.

She was given a terrible situation, and did the only thing she could. Folks that wanted her to stay in office and suffer the grim fate that had been orchestrated for her by her enemies and now voice disapproval of her unconventional action of resigning are disingenuous at best. They wanted her eradicated from the political scene to begin with, one way or another (and that includes a hefty percentage of the GOP establishment types, who’d never lift a finger to help her when she needed some support).

The left actually implied that Trig may have been conceived as a result of incest and that was the cause of his mental disability. That’s about as low as it gets. It’s unknown if the poster didn’t know that or just hates Sarah Palin so much he/she is not willing to admit it.

From related article Karl Rove Blasts Sarah Palin’s ‘Enormous Thin Skin’ About Campaign Speculation

Van Susteren tried to bring Rove back from that precipice, asking him to instead “reflect on the media” and the fact that they continue covering her. Rove admitted that she was “a potentially big factor in the presidential election,” and that “if she were to get in, she’d be a contender.”

That said, Rove concluded by calling Palin thin-skinned another two times before the segment ended– abruptly, without a goodbye, cut into by a “news break” that likely could’ve waited the extra three seconds.

Rove seems to have a problem with strong willed, dynamic conservative females.

Did he get stood up at the prom?

You have to admit, the MSM had a laser focus on the important issues in 2008: Joe the plumber’s trade license, and the DNA of Palin’s Down Syndrome child.

There is no person, male or female, who has been attacked like Sarah Palin has. She has thick skin.

Bears repeating. Karl's skin is paper thin. He does not brook disagreement with his edicts.

Rove is simply sour because his candidate (Romney) is getting whacked by Perry.

interesting comment from above link site by SunsetLament:

Mark Levin said it right a few nights ago. Rove is working for another candidate, expects Palin will run, but knows she's not announcing on September 3rd. So he has proclaimed to the world that he thinks she will announce on September 3rd and that if she doesn't she will have taken too long and strung the media along past their breaking point. Of course, she has said nothing - the only person speculating is Rove himself (and Dick Morris, who is working for a different GOP candidate). Then, when she doesn't announce on the 9/3, Rove can declare Palin "out of the race". And when she announces later on, Rove will be able to declare that she is too wishy-washy and can't make up her mind, having teased previous announcements (that were completely manufactured by Rove).

Palin's people know this is going on and that's why they attacked him. Rove's an establishment skunk and all he's worried about is getting a Good 'Ol Boy in the White House. He's becoming awful close to getting excommunicated, imho - his Eddie Haskell routine is getting old and transparent
