All I know is the symbolism of the white dress, veil, being given away by her father, and hearing “You may kiss the bride” is a bit lost on a noticeably pregnant bride.

Only if you let it ~ these two are putting aside their personal interests to join together to raise a family. Praise God!

Despite the oft repeated myth, the white dress came about because Queen Victoria wore it at her wedding; enough people decided to copy the color, and the myth that it was connected to purity was spread. (The color blue is the traditional color of purity. )

Despite the oft repeated myth, the white dress came about because Queen Victoria wore it at her wedding; enough people decided to copy the fashion that white wedding dresses have been the most common in the West ever since.

The myth that it was connected to purity was spread, partly by the wedding industry, and partly by people who wanted a justification for following the tradition that didn’t involve “well, I’m following a fashion trend.”

Traditionally, the color blue is the traditional color of purity; that is why the old wedding rhyme includes “something blue”, and not “something white”.
