US officials Wednesday unveiled charges against 72 people in their largest global probe into Internet child pornography which smashed a "nightmare" online bulletin board catering to pedophiles.

The investigation launched in 2009 has led to arrests in the US and 13 other countries of participants in Dreamboard, which had a "VIP" ranking system for members trading in graphic images and videos of adults molesting children age 12 and under, often violently, the Justice Department said.

"Dreamboard's creators and members lived all over the world -- but they allegedly were united by a disturbing belief that the sexual abuse of children is proper conduct that should not be criminalized," Attorney General Eric Holder said.

"The members of this criminal network shared a demented dream to create the preeminent online community for the promotion of child sexual exploitation, but for the children they victimized, this was nothing short of a nightmare."

The Libertine Party argues that emancipation of a minor is an economic issue, once the child is able to be economically independent, they are accorded the rights of adulthood.

There are six people in Southern California that I have not heard anything about. I wonder if they will find ties to Hollywood but more than likely ties to the Porn Industry.

Libertarian Party:Libertarian principles__GOP:Conservative principles.

The fit is far from perfect.

They are wrong. The biological development of your average human isn't, more or less, complete until their late teens. Therefore, they cannot be said to be in complete control of their reasoning until reaching the age of majority.

Yes, I know some will argue that we mature at different ages. It's a red herring argument. Not because they actually believe it, because they want to be "pure" in their ideology. Happens here on FR too.

"Kiddie porn is bad, therefore all porn is bad." The mantras on either side are completely predictable.

Orange County [California] Register has info on three of the 6 Southern California people charged.

Article: O.C. men arrested in international child-exploitation case

I wonder if members of George Soros organization are members of Dreamboard. Though there were 72 indicted, there are about 600 members of Dreamboard.

The exception to pornography is okay is found in what happened in 2009.

Playboy advocated the hate rape of ten conservative women, including: Michelle Malkin, Michele Bachmann, Laura Ingram, and Peggy Noonan.

Playboy was forced to pull the story...

Finally, I worked parties at the Playboy Mansion in the 1970's and 1980's. I regret ever getting a cent from Playboy from work there.

It is my personal opinion that pornography leads to degeneration of family values.

Since Playboy was first published, the divorce rates have skyrocketed. Today, it is more common for people to have been divorced than to stay married.

I posted earlier in this thread about what Jesus said that you know a tree by its fruit. A Good Tree produces only good fruit -- a bad tree only produces bad fruit.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts. There are many other factors, other than "Playboy", that you are patently ignoring.

Playboy is a symptom, not a disease in itself.

Don’t forget Hustler Magazine running the “Chester the Molester” cartoon for several years as well. The cartoon made light of child sexual abuse, and the author was convicted of molestation himself.

Some people indicted:

Anthony Sowders, 28, [Bell County], Kentucky
Kevin R. Casey, 38, of Palos Verdes, California
Jason Simon, 42, of Glendale, California
Stephen Fairbanks, 35, of LaVerne, California

None of the six Southern California defendants were from Hollywood... Three were from Orange County, California, and the three from California above are from Los Angeles County [Palo Verdes, Glendale, and LaVerne are all in Los Angeles County]

The purpose of posting the names of defendants is to help any investigation. Though this is Federal, this might help Local Authorities with any local connections to the Defendants...

There have already been convictions on this:

From the Bangkok Post. [The link to the article is: US charges 72 over 'nightmare' child porn network ...]

On May 10, Timothy Lee Gentry, 33, of Burlington, Kentucky, was sentenced to 25 years in prison; on May 31, Michael Biggs, 32, of Orlando, Florida, was sentenced to 20 years; on June 22, Michael Childs, 49, of Huntsville, Alabama, was sentenced to 30 years; and on July 14, Charles Christian, 49, of Tilton, Illinois, was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison.

I believe, all of the above were listed on replies 50 or 51.

Also, I apparently missed a Dallas/Fort Worth individual who has been indicted:

Ivan Cerda, Coppell [Dallas-Fort Worth area], Texas

There is a legitimate concern that people who might know anyone charged might have children who might have been abused... Which is a good reason to post the names...

The scary one of those named is a high school football coach. He might have lured underage girls into sexual relationships -- possibly, or been responsible for that [getting high school football players to lure girls under 13 into sexual relationships...]

This is unproven, but possible...
