Republican U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner said on Sunday that he would prefer to unveil a bipartisan deal to raise the debt ceiling and that his last offer to Democratic President Barack Obama was still on the table.

-snip-

Boehner said his offer that included some $800 billion in new tax revenue and massive spending cuts was never withdrawn.

That plan was dubbed the "grand bargain" despite his decision to walk away from negotiations with Obama last week.

"I don't know, it may be pretty hard to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. My last offer is still out there. I've never taken my last offer off the table,"

No raising the ceiling!!!!!!!

What is it Boehner doesn’t understand?

It’s as though I planned to put in a swimming pool, but now I can’t because I don’t have the money, that’s NOT a default. I simply call the contractor and say “I am not doing the project. Maybe next year.” And he can go on his merry way, building pools for the Saudis.

I cannot fathom how this guy, boehner, can bend over backwards time and time again [Ryan plan, CCB] to give another lifeline to zer0, with nothing to gain and all to lose. Does he identify with zer0’s marxism?

Boehner has two choices:

1. To be the Honorable Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

2. To be an back in OH as an unemployed boner.

They simply absolutely refuse to listen to US! G DAM U SOBS! You listen to US!

I have come to the conclusion that, the only way they will understand is if we all go on a nationwide work stoppage for about two weeks.

Boehner - they won't take the $800B offer anyway, so why compromise your principles for nothing? Take if off the table and be sure to justify it with a scathing statement about the bad faith of 0bama and the Democrats and their unwillingness to negotiate.

Stop pussying out, Boehner - you're not impressing anyone on either side of the aisle.

The 800 B in new revenue comes from lower, flatter marginal rates and a broader base. That’s what we want - Laffer curve says lower rates bring in more revenue.

Also it comes with eliminating loopholes which i’m ok with. Why should one segment of our population have “special” taxes? As a rule, I don’t like such loopholes.

"You were given the choice between Dishonor and War. You chose Dishonor -- and you will have War." -- Churchill

The Democrats in the senate have failed to pass a budget for the last two years -- two years!
Obama has offered nothing but rhetoric.
The House passed a bill to cut spending, raise the debt limit, and move toward balanced budgets in the future -- but the Democrats killed it without allowing an actual vote.

The GOP has done all it could. Boehner needs to stand pat on a winning hand. Do the right thing. Do the honorable thing. If he wobbles, gives Obama what Obama wants, then it will all come crashing down before too long, and I think there will be war.

Appears to me that the members of the Tea Party are blind and naive when it comes to the good old boy operation of day to day business in Washington. They may have seen some of the surface ‘’wash my butt and I'll wash yours) but now they are seeing how the ‘’mob’’ really is attempting to keeping control over politics and they are in a state of shock. The wonderful and refreshing results I am seeing is their discovery of the emergency brake and with some WD-49 and backbones are exposing the corruption to the light of day and have the rodents run for cover into oblivion. Maybe I'm the one who is naive, but I've been around the block a few times in my life and have seen good conquer evil in a number of huge situations. Just keep your powder dry and keep calling

This epic fail by Boner and the House will result in one good outcome. It will be the end of the Republican Party. A new conservative party will arise from the ashes.

By lower, flatter marginal rates and a broader base are you talking about those (49%) who don’t currently pay taxes?

Quite the contrary: He will join Trent Lott’s lobbying Firm in DC.

The $800 Billion comes from INCREASED TAX RATES on higher-income families and individuals. The Bush Tax cuts will be eliminated for a segment of American workers.

This is a TAX HIKE for those of us who speak English.

Your headline is a LIE!

Increased revenue and higher tax rates are NOT the same thing!

I personally watched the interview and the speaker specifically said that his last offer was still on the table and that plan would lower tax rates, expand the base, and increased revenues would result. I agree with him on that!

The marxist in the WH and his comrades in the Congress and press know exactly what they are dealing with in Boehner.

A spineless Washingtonian that would cut a deal in a NY minute to stab taxpayers in the back if he could bring the votes.

Since he cant, he is out there still talking about 800 billion dollars in new taxes as some kind of viable option down the road, just not now.

He still doesn’t get it.

NO NEW TAXES.

If the people want new taxes they can put the marxists back in charge of the House in 2012.

What color is the sky on Rooters' Planet? Obama killed the deal with want to add $400 billion in taxes. The only open deal right now is CCB.

I’m talking about lower income tax rates on a larger base.

The tax base is income earned. With lower rates, the only way to broaden the base is more payers.

To me that means increasing the number of people paying.
