Talks between Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and top Republicans fell apart well before a midnight deadline. Dayton demanded tax increases on top earners, but the GOP refused.

Certainly not! Because they are for fairness and equality they will not "just" keep raising taxes. They will certainly start tapping into the savings and investments of those unfair producers who stole that wealth from the people they employed and who willingly bought their services.

we need two tax systems in this country; one with higher rates for the liberals, and one with lower rates for conservatives. Since the liberal aholes want higher rates anyway, they should be happy with this. And, in return for our lower tax rates, we conservatives will agree to only participate in the bare minimum of government services. Most of the idiotically excessive governmental regulations will only apply to the liberals, and conservatives can opt out, thereby reducing the burden on the government.

Just go to a Staples or any office supply store - in the paper section they have business card stock (there will be a website addy to get the template to use and format your cards)

I put this on the front of the card:

Just format it to fit in the sections on the business card template - or if you don’t want to buy the stock cards just check online and you’ll find the websites to configure business cards and make them on heavy paper

I don’t disagree with you except that those who are truly in need should not allow militants, socialists et al to do their bidding. In other words, the truly needy should oppose public unions, patronage, etc. the same way we do. But that usually isn’t the case.

By the same token, disabled persons and organizations are fond of talking about dignity, independence, etc. yet they allow themselves to be used as stage props by shameless politicians during every campaign. The best way to demonstrate such rugged individualism is to stay far away from these dog and pony shows.

There is no "except," we both absolutely agree. It's what the Tenth Commandment was all about.

Every strength of a society originates with individual virtue. Self-control, charity, and faith preclude the need for police power. The Founders of this nation relied upon it. John Adams once warned,

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” ¬

When the Constitution was written, it was unthinkable that any government should be empowered to redistribute wealth. James Madison himself once said,

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.”

Charity and benevolence were to be the exclusive province of the people and the SOLE means of dispensing public welfare. Churches and civic organizations were the principal means.

The biggest distinction between government welfare and private charity is clear: most of the “middle-men” in private charity are volunteers. The second important aspect of voluntary benevolence isn’t so obvious: Those on the receiving end have to ask for help, and possibly modify their behavior to get it.

That’s motivation in action. It builds a wealthier society. Lest anyone think that charity alone is inadequate, considering the alternative of a police empowered welfare state that CAUSES the problems it is supposed to solve, should be enough to convince them otherwise. Armed with an understanding of those mechanics, it shouldn’t be too difficult to convince a sufficient number of our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and customers that conservative government is their best choice for wealth and freedom. Let’s go get them on board.

My understanding is that the Legislature accommodated the governor’s request for more spending with a 13% increase but no tax increase; and Dayton is insisting a 24% spending increase along with a tax increase, as well.

This whole thing is being orchestrated by Obama as a trial run for next month. Just like the stunts in Wisconsin earlier in the spring.

When the State Government shuts down in most cases it will be a lot more noticeable then when the federal goverment shutsdown. Unlike the Federal Government most State Governments actually do more of the daly and necessary functions of Government.

We agree on one thing. Government is anti-charity. It wants to be the new God from whom all good blessings flow.

The only problem with that picture is that gov’t is not God and screws up most everything it touches.
