On Michele Bachmann announcement day, a tea party nod to Rick Perry
Christian Science Monitor ^ | June 27, 2011 | Linda Feldmann

Posted on 06/27/2011 1:56:10 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Washington - First, a disclaimer: The poll was completely unscientific. Some 160 tea partyers from around the country had gathered at the Washington headquarters of FreedomWorks, a conservative group that trains tea partyers in political organizing and advocacy. With reporters watching, the assembled activists were asked for a show of hands on the Republican presidential candidates.

The winner: Texas Gov. Rick Perry. He isn’t a candidate yet, and it’s not certain he ever will be. But Governor Perry’s “victory” is just one small indication that, were he to run, Perry would start with the goodwill of the GOP’s most energetic wing.

Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota congresswoman who formally announced her presidential campaign Monday morning in Iowa, came in a close second. Ron Paul, the libertarian-leaning Texas congressman, came in third. “Undecided” also did well.

[snip]

The Republican habit of nominating the “next in line” candidate is a thing of the past, before new media made it easier for newcomers to break through, says Mr. Young, who is sporting a big “Perry 2012 President” button.

Why Perry? He has the “right attitude” toward the federal government; he believes in the 10th amendment, which reserves power to the states; and he has long executive experience, 10-1/2 years as Texas governor, Young says.

“People like cheerful candidates who can win,” he adds...

Doesn’t it strike you as odd that none of Perry’s supporters or opponents have mentioned the vaccine or the TTC?
Nobody has mentioned it except here on FR.

Freepers, don’t you think it more sensible to trust what our Conservative icons have to say about Perry?

>Sarah Palin threw her endorsement to Rick Perry for governor-. She recently restated that she likes Perry.

>Rush said that Perry is his dream candidate. http://gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com/rush-limbaugh-on-the-record-3/

>Michael Reagan praises Perry:
“If you don’t believe Reaganomics can still work in this day and age, for whatever reason, I say you should look no further than the state of Texas.
Under the leadership of Gov. Rick Perry, Texas has championed and built upon the concepts my father used to rebuild America in the 1980s..
In short, Reagan Revolution is alive and well - deep in the heart of Texas.”
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jun/24/reagans-vision-lives-on-in-texas/?page=1

>Ted Nugent is a close friend and supporter.

Don’t you think it more sensible to trust what numerous politicians and scholars have said about Rick Perry than some haters on FR?

VISIT THIS SITE

Read the official statements of dozens of Perry’s fellow politicians and scholars (both Democrats and Republicans) have had to say about Rick Perry: http://www.politico.com/arena/archive/rick-perry-for-president-in-2012.html

All (including Democrat opponents) have called him a staunch Conservative, and not one of the dozens issuing opinions has mentioned the vaccine or TTC.
Apparently they don’t consider these things an issue. They DID mention Perry threatening to secede from the unionas a strike against him.
What Perry actually said; “You know, my hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention,” Perry continued. “We’ve got a great union. There is absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what may come out of that? So. But Texas is a very unique place and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.”

This is pretty simple. I have 3 kids and they must have certain vaccinations at various ages. This, while a bad idea and I was against it, was along the same line of thinking and there was an opt out clause.

Perry's campaign will be "states rights" centered.

Wait a minute ... I’M THE TEA PARTY, and I didn’t “nod” at Perry ... who’s reporting this BS? The REAL Tea Party doesn’t NOD at anyone ... and anybody who speaks for it an “NODs” is a fake. The whole idea of the Tea Party is NOT to NOD to anyone and stand for no taxes and conservative values ... saving the “nod” for the moment when the voting booth lever is pulled.

I didn't click on your link above, but wasn't fellow Texan Dick Army and former Congressman the founder of FREEDOM WORKS??? He, Newt and another Texan, Tom Delay were set up during the first Bush administration in time to rush the house in 1994 with that historic surge for the Republicans.

Since then I think Dick Army has joined the ACLU and the Libertarian party and then rushed the FREEDOM WORKS to make a major push into the blooming Tea Party flash mob of the time. Am I right???

Mark Simone did Rush’s show today and he really likes Perry. He went through all the issues he had with Perry, but said in the end he would support him. He does not think Palin will run.

Vaccinations for 3 year olds are NOT the same as Gardasil.

Gardasil Perry signed his fascist EDICT in 2007.

How about we examine the FACTS from 2006?

2006 population of women per the census was 151,795,031.

Number of cervical cancer cases
diagnosed in 2005 per the CDC was 11,999.

That means that 00.07904% of women
were diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Number of deaths by cervical cancer in 2005 were 3,924.

Percentage of deaths were 00.00258%.

The problem is
1. Long term effects of Gardasil are still unknown.

2. This drug was not adequately tested on girls given
its known side-effects

3. Cervical cancer is both curable if early, and uncommon.

The NET Benefit of a medical treatment is

NET BENEFIT = (Risk with NO treatment)*(the net benefit of the treatment) - (The risk of harm).

Now the total incidence of cervical cancer was
given above, and the risk of harm is
still ongoing and increasing.

Bottom line: In this light, what Perry did cannot be excused, and he certainly has not addressed it.

Because you are...?

Please... Nothing at all against Texas or Texans, arguably the finest people in the world. The country is just not ready for another Texan. He would remind the electorate of George W. and just by virtue of being Texan re-enforce what you know will be the other side's campaign strategy, the tired old saw "failed policies of the past." It also re-enforces the image of the Republican Party as a regional southern party, an image we can shed - contrary to what Michael Steele might believe - without compromising on issues.

No open borders.

No Rick Perry, please.

We have to win this time.

Gov. Perry and The Texas Dream Act

[snip]

It’s important to point out that there is a huge difference in the Texas Dream Act and the The Dream Act that was pushed in Congress and failed. The Dream Act in Congress was full of all kinds of goodies other than allowing children of illegals to receive in state tuition. The Texas Dream Act was focused only on that. I happen to agree with The Texas Dream Act, and so did everyone in the Senate in Texas. It passed with ZERO “no” votes. Add to that, it has been proven to be successful.

These are a few things you need to know about the Texas Dream Act. The child has to have lived in Texas the three years leading up to high school graduation. These students are given no special treatment in getting into Texas colleges and universities. They must get in on their own merit. They are paying the tuition (with or without financial aid). It’s estimated that these students make up about 1% of those entering college.

[snip]

Most of us agree that border control MUST be dealt with first. The problem with all other efforts on this issue in the past is that the borders were not sealed. If there is anyone who we can trust to do that it is Gov. Perry (if he decides to run for President). He knows what goes on down at the border. He has gone there many times. He knows what needs to be done. There is no doubt in my mind that if he were President, he would seal our borders. But Perry also understands Hispanic outreach.

No open borders. No Rick Perry, please.

[excerpt] "Perry, in Mexico with a Texan trade mission seeking opportunities in areas like renewable energy, said the federal government’s plan to build a wall along much of the border to keep out illegal immigrants was “idiocy.”

“We need those individuals to continue to grow our economy,” Perry told a briefing with reporters.

“If you show up illegally, without your card or you’re here as a criminal element, I’m for throwing the book at those folks, but the issue of people who want to legally, thoughtfully and appropriately come to America to work and help us build our economy — we should quickly come up with a program and an identification card to do that.” [end excerpt] Source

"......When Obama continued to refuse even five minutes for the Governor, Perry took matters into this own hands and was standing on the tarmac at Austin’s airport when President Obama stepped off of Air Force One. Obama looked confused, Perry looked determined. Obama still ignored the pleas for help.

Perry again took matters into his own hands, and established an elite unit of Texas Rangers to bolster border security..." Source

"Other states leaving Secure Communities (TX expands ICE program]--- "As Texas moves toward expanding Secure Communities, several northern states are dropping out of the program that matches the fingerprints of those arrested against a U.S. [ICE] database.

Last week, before Gov. Rick Perry's announcement that the expansion of Secure Communities would be on the agenda for the Legislature's special session, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick announced his state will not take part in the program...." Source
