You are so correct... it is always best to use the Bush Doctrine of no defense at all. It worked wonders for his Presidency.

Bush had his two terms. You cant run for a third. Secondly, the Bush Doctrine that lost for the republicans was the reaching across the aisle and trying to make friends with the democrats

Best to attack the opponent and not give credence to your opponent's accusations of "gaffes" about something that happened two hundred years ago.

Bush never defended his agenda, his administration, his actions in Iraq...the claims of no WMD... the attacks against his Military service... he never called out seeBS and rather on their forgery and lies... he never answered a single lie told about him and by default, those of us that supported him. rove admitted it was his idea and it failed. rove actually said it was a huge mistake not to respond. Best to make is so painful when an enemy provokes you or attacks you... that to continue would be damaging to the person attacking... you hit back quickly and with more might than is used against you... never show any mercy and never give quarter.
