That is what I gleened from his account. It would fit with settlers being spread out over the countryside. I think it would take more than one man to cover that much ground.

It sounds like Revere’s primary duty was to warn Hancock and Adams. The other riders with him were the ones doing the actual alerting of everyone else.
If I recall correctly, one rider of that night was the 12 year old son of a free black farmer.
