Charles Krauthammer: C’mon, Herman Cain’s candidacy is for entertainment purposes only

Via the Right Scoop, I’m not nearly as sure as Kraut is that this is true. If Palin surprises everyone by staying out, Iowa will be wide open for a “true conservative” to emerge. And if Cain finishes well there, he’ll be well positioned to surprise people in his backyard of South Carolina. Doesn’t mean he’ll be the nominee, but it’s very easy to imagine him being a factor in the nomination given his grassroots support. If Palin does jump in, I don’t know how the base goes about trying to decide between them. Palin has held public office and Cain hasn’t, but Cain doesn’t have the sort of image problem out of the box that she has to overcome. How does the vote split between the two of them and Bachmann in Iowa? Somewhere Romney and Pawlenty consultants are reading that question and thinking: “Hopefully very evenly.”

I guess Kraut figures that since he’ll soon be alienating the base by criticizing Palin after she announces, he might as well go the whole nine yards and tweak Cain too. Speaking of which, the Herminator is now officially in. His formal announcement will come tomorrow.

What would the elitist Kruathammer have said about Lincoln running for the Presidency? Krauthammer is an elitist. I lost respect for him in 2008. Every now and then he writes something that makes sense but mostly he disparages new conservative talent. Krauthammer, like 99.9% of the “Ivy Leaguers” has damaged America and should be asked to retire. I no longer make it a point to watch Special Report anymore. What's the point? I can get liberal drivel on ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN, CNNi, etc.

I bet ya that Kraut says that to all the guyssss.

People listen to such ignorant rants because liberals are truly that ignorant. Highly opinionated, very precise on what they believe, irritatingly adamant about who they hate....but, ignorant.

Duplicitous, hypocritical, superficial.....but, ignorant.

Charles is the one who coined Bush Derangement syndrome. He is educated so he will be appreciated by half here. Free Republic does represent the true division in the party between white and blue collar.

Charles Krauthammer: C’mon, Herman Cain’s candidacy is for entertainment purposes only

Of course Krauthammer would say this!

After all, Herman Cain is not a scum-sucking Establishment RINO, which apparently is the only type of GOP candidate that Krauthammer finds acceptable.

Not to mention, this comes from a guy who thought that Obama was well-qualified...

Thank you, I didn’t know that.

Doesn’t sound as though Charles is really all that Conservative, does he?

Thank you for such a well reasoned response. ;o)

Like you, Cain is my favorite declared candidate right now, and I would love to see a successful conservative businessman in the WH.

Was watching the “lightening round” when Kraut said that; even just as snarky was the woman to his right’s comment, something to the effect that no one would vote for Cain. She couldn’t be more wrong!

My philosophy exactly. Either of the two at the top of the ticket would be fine with me. The two of them together would be unbeatable.

Of all the declared candidates, Cain is certainly my favorite, and I would love to see a successful conservative businessman in the WH.

Actually, what track record there is of businessmen in the WH isn't all that positive. Herbert Hoover is the prime example, and he turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to the Democratic Party. FDR set the records for government spending - but the records he broke were set by Herbert Hoover.

Hoover's failing was that when the depression hit, he couldn't "Don't just do something, stand there!"

So he grew the government and made the problem worse. FDR followed the same path, continually blaming Hoover for the fact that FDR's - and Hoover's - policy didn't work.

He can think what HE wants. I am sick and tired of these so called experts inferring that I am too stupid to pick my own candidate.

These people are so sheltered, they really should get out more.

I agree with you..Kraut has become very arrogant and seems to relish the idea that his words are powerful..Herman Cain’s visibility is very important to this nation. Calling his ideas entertainment only is very insulting to a man who is reflecting the ideas of millions and millions of people. Giving those ideas a big megaphone is just as important as giving the big megaphone to an elitist like Kraut..

Seriesly. It’s time to ask:

Is Krauthammer ever right, about anything?

...”Krauthammer is not overly impressed by the Constitution. Every once in a while he gets something right but he doesn’t qualify to be a conservative icon. He is a lot closer to Bloomberg than to the average Freeper”...

I think FOXNEWS has declared him a conservative icon. I doubt that conservatives have.

...”I think Col. West has it figured out already.
I trust him more than anyone else in government”...

I could listen to Col. West all day long..He is a wise, learned and experience man..I could relax if he was in charge.
