WASHINGTON -- Arizona Sen. John McCain joined three other senators Wednesday in supporting President Barack Obama's decision to impose sanctions on Syrian leader Bashar al Assad and other top Syrian officials.
McCain signed the statement along with fellow Republicans Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Marco Rubio of Florida and Independent Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.
"We applaud President Obama for imposing sanctions on Bashar al Assad and other top Syrian officials," the senators' statement said. "The President's strong and principled action today should send an unmistakable message that the United States stands in solidarity with the brave protesters in Syria and that the Assad regime has lost legitimacy in our eyes.
"We urge our European allies and other partners around the world to work now with the United States in targeting Bashar al Assad with similar measures. We also hope the President will use the opportunity of his speech tomorrow (Thursday) to talk in detail about the situation in Syria, and make clear that it is time for Assad to go."

And to build up Obama to lessen the chances a Republican will win. He's that twisted.
John McCain was the Republican nominee for POTUS. *deep, cleansing breath*
I wish Barry had chosen Juan McCain instead of Rimshot Joe as his running mate. The GOP might have been able to hold on to the White House in 2008.
Me, too. I would expect the other three to be idiots. McCain, Gramnesty, and Lieberman.
But why on earth is Rubio joining them? This seriously weakens him, in my estimation. Does he have the faintest idea what’s going on?
If he does, he’s an idiot. If he doesn’t, he should keep his mouth shut.
Sorry to break your bubble but the real reason McCain supoorts Obama is they are both socialists.
And almost of the republican leadership are socialists.
So they don’t cave, go wobbley kneed, aren’t spineless, they are fellow socialists.
Or read my tagline

Vote for Scotty McCreery on American Idol tonight.
Make the Libs heads explode!
(The 17 year old singing sensation made the unforgivable mistake of kissing the cross he wears around his neck and singing a song mentioning Jesus. Libs are flaming him all over the net)
Is anyone else old enough that the word “sanctions” reminds them of Milton Berle’s lisping threat, “I’ll scwatch you and scwatch you and scwatch you”?
No doubt... but hey - gotta vote for RINOs because they are not a “D”.... Gets us nowhere, but some here on FR are delusional into thinking otherwise...
Don’t you just love how McLame keeps reminding us just how much of a traitorous piece of crap he really is (and why Obama was elected)....!
And thank you so much to Arizona voters for the “gift that keeps on giving....”
Bet McLame never learned how to play chess....not the brightest bulb in the box....sheesh
Everytime I see John McCain’s face I want to get a bulldozer and doze down the entire state of AZ!
I’m glad 0 is trying sanctions instead of blasting off million dollar missiles. I can find no fault in McCain praising 0, when 0 decides not to send our soldiers to a sh*thole where we are not wanted.
McCain must miss the no hands restaurants in Ha Noi..sometimes I do..lol.
HERE’S JOHNNY!
I have frequently had questions about McCains true intentions.

Me too. Contrast Mc Cain's treatment of Obama to his despicable undermining of GWB after Bush beat him out for the Republican nomination in the 2000 elections which did great damage to this country.
Mc Cain was so bad Arizona had almost enough signatures on a petition to recall him. He had to come back to Arizona, apologize to the state and plead with Arizonans to put a stop to the recall if he mended his ways.
They stopped the recall and of course, he broke his promise to back off.
McCain obviously sold his soul over his ambition to be President. He was a decent Senator before he ran in 2000 .
Too bad the fraud didn’t run on this rhetoric during his Senate reelection bid.
Obama needs a plate glass window in his navel so John Mccain has a place to look out.
I have had enough of this guy being the go to guy on anything military. Use Allen West or Duncan Hunter or any of the other Congressman that have fought against these Muslim nutjobs.
