Garth Brooks on Obama: I Love Him to Death; It's Got to Be Hell In That Office (Barf Alert!)
CNS News ^ | 03/23/11 | Nicholas Ballasy

(CNSNews.com) - Grammy award-winning singer Garth Brooks told CNSNews.com that he "fully" supports President Barack Obama and that it must be "hell" serving as President of the United States.

Before his performance at the Points of Light Institute's ceremony honoring former President George H. W. Bush at the Kennedy Center on Monday, Brooks was asked if President Obama has lived up to his expectations.

"Yeah, I think what President Obama is finding out is all that we want to do, the system kind of doesn't allow the most powerful guy in the world to kind of do his job and I'm sure nobody's more frustrated than him to complete those promises that he did and I think he's trying his heart out. I love him to death and I fully support him and I just wish him well because it's got to be hell in that office," said Brooks.

Brooks' comments come as many celebrities who supported President Obama in the 2008 election including Matt Damon and Barbra Streisand have publicly expressed disappointment in President Obama.

Brooks, the closing act in the ceremony, also said the entire political system in America has him "concerned."

"The whole political system kind of has me concerned right now to tell you the truth --200 years old and we might think of about, you know, kind of kicking it in the ass a little bit. It just seems like we vote for things because they're Republican or Democratic," he told CNSNews.com.

"I think we should vote for them because they're right or wrong and we kind of have seemed to have fallen into that trap so that would be the one warning I would give all us," he said. "Put down where you're from and what flag you fly under and let's get to putting the best person, man or women in the office and let's start making some strides."

When asked for a specific example, Brooks said, "For me, it's if my guy didn't get in then I drag my feet for four years and we don't get anywhere and if my guy gets in, you drag your feet for four years and we don't get anywhere," he said. "We've got to stop doing that. Once we get there let's try to be four years down the road further than we were and let's see what happens. Let's all work together and that's kind of what this is all about tonight."

Damn! Had to throw away several CDs and a couple of cookbooks to add him to my boycott list. My friends list doesn’t go to those “low places”.

Julliard?

I saw him at Eskimo Joe’s, in Stillwater, OK and people were throwing quarters in his tip jar. This was one year before he exploded onto the scene in country music.

Hey Garth, you're an idiot. Oh, and all your songs sound the same.
You sucked at the rodeo because it sounded like you were singning
the same song over and over.

“I love him to death.” Garth, then I don’t see any reason you should stop.

He is saying in one sentence
I love him to death and I fully support him.
and in another
The whole political system kind of has me concerned right now to tell you the truth.
Very much like a country song - where someone falls in
love with the wrong kind of person - but keeps coming
back for more abuse - so sad...

This mindless nationalism is disgusting. We have to support 0bama because he is our leader? I wonder if the 1930s Jews felt the same way about their fuhrer?
These shallow thinkers cannot commit to a principle, they must slavishly follow a leader even if it leads to the county’s destruction.

Chicken-fried pop, and not as manly as the Dixie Chicks. What happened to country music?

He is nothing more than Marion Barry with better Public Housing. But at least Marion can produce a Birth Certificate.

Good one! Is that available for a tagline?

I recently saw Gene Watson in concert. Now there’s a real country singer! None of this Nashville pop masquerading as country!

IIRC - and I'm pretty sure I do - He studied music at Julliard. His career was all markteting. Sizzle and no country steak. His stage show - the one Mrs p6 dragged me to here - was like a circus act. they never stood still...ran all over the stage.

He wrapped up with a solo of Starry, Starry Night.

Decent musician but NOT country. No Way! The opening act was much better. Traditional "cowboy" band standing around a fake campfire but at least playing passable country. Sons o the Pioneers stuff mixed with, oh, '40s -60's C/W.

A Time/Warner pollster would respond as follows: “Well okay, then. Thank you for your input. I’ll just put you down as having a SOMEWHAT favorable view of Barack Obama’s performance as president”.

;-)

I’m glad these entertainers are trying to help me form my opinion but I think I’ll wait until Justin Bieber checks in.
