Was a Forrestal class CV IIRC - the first supercarrier, and larger than either the de Gaulle or the Midway.

I recall now, it was one of the Forrestals -- maybe the Forrestal, not sure now.

There was a thread about it on FR.

I also erred somewhat in comparing the Chuck to the Midway class, which dressed out at 45,000 tons as commissioned in the 40's (55,000 tons full load, per Jane's), and was "somewhat" heavier when rebuilt with angled decks, sponsons, etc., at 74,000 tons. Even so, her a/c complement fell from over 100 at commissioning to about 65 more-modern a/c at decommissioning.

She was also 972' long.
