The waling fleets began in colonial New Bedford Massachusetts because wales regularly got stranded near the shore line. The locals ran out in small boats, roped the animal, and the whole town would drag it ashore.

Drudge had some gruesome pictures of a mass fish kill a day or so back.

The oceans are a truly fabulous thing. Soon, everyone will also become aware that there is more ocean below the earths crust than above it. Wonder what be lurking down there...?
