TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Federal officials are expecting a record year for U.S. agriculture exports.

I thought there was a food shortage. If were exporting at this rate...then why are we paying so much here at home.

Better yet, if they want food...lower the price of oil.

All exported food should be the same prices as the barrel of oil.

Supply and demand. If they want US bread in Italy and willing to pay more for it, then what would you do - Lower or raise your prices?

Theory: There IS a food shortage, in the rest of the world. That’s why they’re buying at a record rate, and by the law of supply and demand, prices go up.

I wish we’d stop with this ethanol rubbish.

The best way for that to happen is for Obama to lift the moratorium on drilling in the gulf and we go full steam ahead on drilling in ND, AK, etc. and also building new refineries.

Can you imagine the economic prosperity that could come back to our country if we had plentiful, cheap oil.

India to produce 232 mn tonne foodgrains

2011-02-09 20:50:00

New Delhi, Feb 9 (IANS) India is likely to produce 232.07 million tonnes of foodgrains in 2010-11 as against 218.11 million tonnes in the previous year, on the back of record wheat output, official data showed Wednesday.

Wheat output is likely to reach a record 81.47 million tonnes while rice production is estimated to be 94.01 million tonnes, according to the second advance estimate of crop production released here by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.

This will be the second highest ever output of foodgrains in India. The highest ever foodgrains production was 234.47 million tonnes in 2008-09.

Production of pulses is likely to reach 16.51 million tonnes this fiscal. It includes 3.18 million tonnes tur, 1.45 million tonnes urad and 1.12 million tonnes moong.

Cotton output is estimated to be 339.27 lakh bales this year. One bale is equal to 170 kg.

‘Such a high level of production will be achieved despite significant crop damage due to widespread drought in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal and the effects of cyclones, unseasonal and heavy rains and severe cold wave and frost conditions in several parts of the country,’ the agriculture ministry said in a statement.

The agriculture sector is likely to show a growth of 5.4 percent in 2010-11 as against 0.4 percent in the previous fiscal, according to advance estimate of economic growth data released by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) early this week.

‘The second advance estimates of crop production for 2010-11 confirm the findings of CSO,’ the statement said.

The greenies and other “progressives” will be upset to discover that they have not yet succeeded in their efforts to shut down most of our agriculture.

During the Irish Potato famine when millions died or left for the US, Ireland had bumper crops all for export.

We have such a glut of ‘surplus’ meat that the Successful Farmer magazine ran a special in December called “Boatloads of Meat” talking about how important meat exports were to the survival of Americas meat producers

This illustrates exactly why the whole "Drill Here Now" mantra for oil completely misses the point. If the U.S. dollar continues to decline against other currencies, then when the U.S. produces [grain/oil/coal/lumber/etc.] we'll simply end up exporting more of it. These things aren't going to get any more affordable for us at all.

It's called QE2 or monetizing the debt. This was predicted two years ago when Jim Rogers recommended buying farming materials. Printing money doesnt create more energy or food.
