U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley on whether the murder of two U.S. airmen was a terrorist attack:

"Was the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords a terrorist attack? I mean, you have to look at the evidence and look at the motivation and then you make a judgment," Crowley told the Press.

The suspect in the murder of two U.S. airmen at the Frankfurt airport confessed that he specifically wanted to kill Americans as revenge for the Afghan war, a German investigator said Friday.

Prosecutor Rainer Griesbaum told reporters that 21-year-old Arid Uka from Kosovo said he went to the airport with the intent to shoot “as revenge for the American mission in Afghanistan.”

Griesbaum also said that Uka’s pistol malfunctioned during the attack, preventing further loss of life. After shooting and injuring two more.

The "Inshallah" (it will be as God wills) attitude leads to less-than-diligent maintenance of equipment, among other things.

I've heard from someone who has spent a lot of time in the Middle East that when someone over there says inshallah it is similar to a Mexican saying mañana, but without the Mexican sense of urgency.

Also some of the gun troubles come from not having a chance to practice and needing to keep the gun hidden. If I thought I needed to use a gun for a life or death situation next week, I would spend some time at the range to make sure it is working right and then clean it. If you are cannot legally own it and have to keep it hidden, you don't get any range time or access to a gunsmith.

R U Kidding me?

The Giffords attack was an attempted murder based on a personal vendetta. No Ally-hoo Ack-bar against our armed forces.

Constitutional oath of office means nothing whatsoever to the muslim-in-chief. His loyalties are to foreigners, especially those who want to destroy us. How much proof do we need for a treason charge to stick?

The left has completely destroyed the mutually held agreement within the society that words have meaning. Hence, "oath" means whatever they want it to mean. "Loyalty" means whatever they want it to mean. "Treason" means whatever they want it to mean.

It all depends on what the definition of "is", is. See how that works?

Quite simple.

It’s just like the Clinton crew spouting verbal contortions to avoid saying “genocide” during the Rwanda massacres in the mid 90s - to have said that or to say Frankfurt was terrorism would demand a firm response; action not words.

You’re closer to right on this, I believe. Spot on. Still, in addition to your excellent point, we’ve all noticed that this administration bends over backward to avoid any and all language that they perceive as “offensive” to Muslims in any way possible.

You know......the ol’ saw that one man’s terrorist is another man’s patriot, yada yada, ad nauseum.

From Germany's Spiegel Online / Spuren des Airport-Killers (Tracks of the airport killer):

My rough translation below:

The islamic radicalized perp killed his victims in exectution style with 2 shots each to the head. The perp gave revenge for the US Army atocities in Afghanistan as the reason for the attack.

The way the attack took place left no doubt the perp wanted to kill as many soldiers as possible. When he came upon a group of soldiers in front of a blue army bus he asked for a cigarette and asked if they were headed to Afghanistan. When a soldier confirmed that they were and turned to the bus the perp shot him from behind twice in the head, killing him immediately.

He then got on the bus that was bringing the soldiers to Ramstein. He executed the 21 year old driver with 2 shots to the head and severely injured two more soldiers.

With the 5th soldier, the perp also put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger twice, but the gun didn't fire because a casing had lodged in the barrel.

The perp fled, but the 5th soldier caught up to him after a few meters and overpowered him. Several police came to help at that point.

Even though the perp admitted to being motivated by radical islam, and had many contacts with jihadic sites on the internet, there are no indications so far that his plan developed anywhere other than in his own mind so murder and attempted murder charges are being drawn rather than terrorism charges.

The perp developed a 'personal genesis' of hate against the US Army. The supposed trigger for the killing was a video that showed US soldiers attacking a house in Afghanistan a raping a daughter of the family. Detectives did not know of the video the perp was referring to.

Investigators mention they are only in the initial stages of the investigation, having had only a 3 hour interrogation in Frankfurt right after the attack without a lawyer present. In the meantime the perp has a lawyer and has not given any more statements. Thus, it is to early to talk about a 'complete confession'.

The coldbloodedness of the killer puzzles the investigators. The perp says he bought the weapon illegally a few months ago from the Belgian company "Fabrique National" for 1000 Euros. Even though he says he has never practiced or even tried to shoot the gun before the attack, he handled himself as brutally as an experienced murderer who shoots his victims one after another. He didn't explain this behavior to the police in the interrogation, which ended after 3 hours when the perp became completely exhausted.

Investigators will instensively look for clues in the perp's environment. Investigators fended off questions about links from the perp to known islamist. Research of his computer and his online contacts, such as facebook are in high gear, though. In the 3 weeks before the attack the perp created virtual frienships with at least 140 islamists known to the authorities. It is not clear if he had direct contact with them.

<-- Very quick translation of the last two paragraps - not close to verbatim -->

The leading federal prosecutor is being cautious with conclusions because it is still early in the investigation. Things may change.

The BKA (like the FBI) was surprisingly open about how little can be done to prevent such attacks. When such individuals fire themselves up alone at home on the internet rather than in groups that leave clues that can be picked up ahead of time, no authority is going to find suspicious behavior.

It looks like the Germans are saying the biggest question mark now is how a noobie picks up a gun without practicing, or even shooting it, then cooly walks down a bus aisle and delivers two shots each to five peoples' heads.

I think they may find that a group was behind this when all is said and done.

Was the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords a terrorist attack? I mean, you have to look at the evidence and look at the motivation.

I wonder if that would be said if it were a union member?.

When we consider that Obama and the Islamofascist terrorists are on the same side, it’s easy to see how he can dismiss attacks on Americans. He shares the same goal as Osama Bin Laden - to destroy America and western civilization.

“Obama Admin. Refuses to Call Attack in Germany an Act of Terrorism, Compares It to Giffords Shooting”

So, according to the MSM, especially MSNBC and the like, the shooting was Palin’s fault? [Rhetorical question]

I think the line was coined by John Ringo in "The Last Centurion".

Well, that means we can blame the American left's antiwar rhetoric.

Obama refuses to call this terrorism just so Freepers will lose their tempers on this forum and say things that invite visits from jackbooted thugs.

I believe that they’re in a state of panic (even though they’re armed and shooting) and their wrist goes limp, resulting in the pistol not being able to kick back the slide and correctly load another round into the chamber.
