To be quietly ‘re-adjusted’ in a week or so.

He doesn’t have to delete any, it’s automatic. When a person’s unemployment expires, they automatically drop off the rolls and the BLS ‘assumes’ them to be employed. Therefore, when everybody’s unemployment expires, we’ll have 100% employment...............

Actually, this was expected. John Batchelor last night was presuming 8.9%

Lets see now, my buddy was just told that the printing factory his brother in law works for just laid off 60% of the work force, my wife was just informed that the day health program she is director of was just canned by the state and 50% of the county workers are to be eliminated. Everyone I know in the building trades are barely working. So where did these figures come from?

“Why don’t they report it at 4.5% and be done with it?”

A gradual ‘reduction’ in the unemployment rate enables the newspeople to smile every month and say: “Things just keep getting better and better! Our man Barry is A-okay!”

Yeah, the spin on the radio this morning was:

The Number is lower because more people are discouraged, and less are looking for work. But, since the number is lower, this is a good thing."

My head nearly exploded.

just keep realiasing fairy tale numbers for a year and then all’s good for Obambi’s election

Can any one here image the horror of a second term with this a$$hole?

forget repealing Obamacare - forget a balanced budget

Any global leader of any other country can come to USA and ask for whatever they want- if it is bad for USA Obambi is for it. Just ask Mexico’s truckers

Cooked is right!

Gallup came out with a 10.3% rate yesterday, a significant INCREASE. And Gallup is hardly a rightwing outfit.

Meanwhile, gas has gone up about $0.50 in less than two weeks. That’s bound to put the brakes on this “growth”.

Gallup finds 10.3% unemployed, 19.9% underemployed

Federal and state tax revenues tell the real story, don’t they?

59.9% of the USA population is between 18 and 65 (i.e. generally accepted employment age)

That is 184,938,577 million workers.

0.001% of that number would be..... 184,939

Number compiled from these Demographics

If the number of new employees is right, then they are in the ball park.

But, is that number right?
Layoffs at 11 Month High

Challenger, Gray & Christmas released their February 2011 layoff report which shows layoffs surged 32% in February to 50,702.

The 50,702 job cuts announced last month was up 32 percent from January’s 38,519. It was 20 percent higher than the 42,090 planned layoffs announced in February 2010. This marks the first year-over-year increase in monthly job cuts since May 2009 when job cuts totaling 111,182 surpassed the 103,522 layoffs announced the same month a year earlier by seven percent.

While Challenger, Gray & Christmas seem to be blaming high gas prices, the details in the layoffs paint a different picture:

The largest portion of layoffs last month came from government and non-profit employers, which announced 16,380 job cuts, up 154 percent from 6,450 in January and 196 percent higher than a year ago when 5,528 job cuts were announced in February. While most of the cuts occurred at the state and local level, the United States Postal Service announced that it reduced its headcount by 5,600 in recent months. excerpted
