Kind of surprised that they took him at his word and did not suspect him of nefarious activity.
I know, its refreshing to see law enforcement actually treat someone decently, and use some common sense, and not look for an excuse to throw the man in jail.
I'm willing to bet that they 'escorted' him back and searched the home it came from before 'taking him at his word'. Not that that was a bad idea, though.
