taken out? Huckabee using some rather violent/inciteful terminology there. Imagine if Palin talked about taking out Obama.

In any event, Huckabee is wrong, as usual.

There was 1992 as you pointed out. Carter lost in 1980. Ford lost in 1976. LBJ didn’t run in 68 but he would have lost if he did. Same with Truman in 52. Hoover lost in 32. Taft lost in 1912. Harrison lost in 1892. Cleveland lost in 1888.

So it’s happened 7 times since 1868. Not a lot, but a fair amount.

Also, we haven’t had 3 straight two term Presidents since Monroe won in 1820. So that’s a pretty strong trend.

Something’s gotta give. It’ll come down to the economy. If unemployment remains high and inflation continues to grow, Obama is in big trouble.

That is the first thing I thought reading this dunces analysis. Apparently this guy was hitting the hot dog stands while he should have been in history class. Unbelievable.

The GOP should have 248 EV’s locked up compared to 242 for the Democrats, but that 242 includes WI and if Walker wins here, that can send a very powerful message towards 2012. If the GOP win WI, they’ll win the election.

Of the 248 EV total, the only state the Huckster would be in serious trouble would be AZ, but that would be enough given the tightness of the election to reelect Obama. You could cross CO off that list rather quickly as well.

The GOP nominee has to be able to take a strong stance on immigration, yet not alienate Hispanic voters. The only person I could see possibly pulling this off would be Rubio, but even he was side-stepping the Arizona issue very gingerly last year and there were many FReepers already to jump down on him as a lost ship because of it. In either even CO > NV in terms of electoral importance, and the social conservative strong on illegal immigration should be able to pair CO, IA.
