Yeah - but which ‘top’??

The Generals, beyond some lukewarm ‘support’ for Mubarak in the early days, have been strangely silent, of late...

Is Hosni still in control of the Army, and holding them back for a later stage in the revolt??

Or is the Army Leadership staying on the sidelines, ready to step in and assume control when the chaos becomes complete??

Or am I over-thinking this??

I think you’re right. When this is over- one way or another- the army is the only institution that can keep order. They need to try and maintain apparent neutrality...

I’ve been truly impressed by the army- their discipline is professional and very tough to keep under these circumstances.

Per BBC- loudspeaker requesting people to go home.
