The Suez Canal, even though it ‘belongs’ to Egypt is a strategic asset for the Europeans, just as the Panama Canal is a strategic asset for the US, even though we ‘ceded’ it to the Nation of Panama...
If it comes to it, look for it to be a NATO action to secure and protect the Suez... (Of course, being a member of NATO, it will be difficult for us to dodge the conflict..)
