If the palin team has any sense they will keep quiet regarding the SOTU.

Given the dual responses from Republicans who actually represent people anything from her would be nothing but "look at me...I'm still relevent".

And that is the palin conundrum. She is not an elected official. She has no group whom she officially represents. There is no campaigning candidate for whom she can make a speech. Her reality TV gambit is done. No more kids to cheer on DWTS. IOW...she is nothing but a private citizen.

Any effort on her part to inject herself into the public eye at this stage will be nothing but an act of self-promotion and will be seen as such.

That is true.

However, the SOTU is viewed by many as a campaign speech, the opening salvo of the 2012 campaign, and can be rebutted by an opposing candidate if carefully crafted and targeted.

You are correct though that it is not necessary to try to effect the immediate present over which she has no elected responsibility

1) She is a paid contributor/ commentator for Fox News.
2) She may be a private citizen, but she is also a former governor and VP candidate.
4) Huckabee and Romney are private citizens (will they be "injecting themselves into the public eye" if they comment on the SOTU?)
5) She indicated that she may be considering a run for POTUS in 2012 - she would be foolish not to inject herself into the public eye if she is considering a run.
6) The human debris that passes for media in this country have been trying to shut her up since she stepped on the public scene - as Rush said, "the left will tell us who they fear." I for one don't want the bastards on the left to win in that regard! (maybe you do?)
7) After being dragged into the Arizona shooting, she was accused of "making the story about her" simply by responding to the despicable (and coordinated) smear campaign. She told Hannity she isn't going to sit down and shut up! GOOD!
6) Last but not least - the last time I checked, she is still afforded the same First Amendment rights as any other American and can speak her mind any time she wants.

“Given the dual responses from Republicans who actually represent people anything from her would be nothing but “look at me...I’m still relevent”.”

What Planet do you live on? Palin doesn’t need to elbow her way into the limelight to prove she is relevant. She is practically besieged for comment on everything. She is teh frontrunner for the GOP nomination for President. That automatically makes her relevant. Indeed her comments will be parsed and remembered far longer than those of Bachmann and Ryan.

Oh. And she obviously doesn’t need advice from trolls.
