The Chief Wife, or the Grandmother, or the Eldest surviving female will usually speak of all the young ones, whether hers, or a sister's, or another wife's as "children".
You occasionally hear that in Southern speach in this country too, but for different reasons.
Has a lot to do with what "aunt" means. A friend of mine's mother sought to minimize problems for him later in life by identifying him as "divorced on Tuesday" because that would make his relationship to the rest of her family unique!
In her particular part of the Shone/Shona tribe it was traditional for all women to be divorced upon giving birth ~ just to make sure that uncle (the child's mother) got it right at the start that this was another one of his "children".

I’d have to review how the Certificates of Hawaiian Birth were handled at the time to give you my best answer. Short of doing that, I will say that it is certainly possible he has an amended certificate.
Without seeing the original records, all of our ideas are essentially speculation, even if we’re fairly confident of our opinions.
I don’t know it for certain. I am speculating based on my understanding of the Certificate of Hawaiian Birth program.

I really, really doubt that. From everything I know, if big “daddy” couldn’t make a buck off it, it didn’t happen. I am not at all convinced he even knew he was supposed to be the kid’s father, but stanley ann named him as such, so it’s more than likely that at some point,they paid him off to give away the paternity he never exercised in the first place.
It's very possible, given his dumbness, living a lie all his life and his demonstrated detachment and lack of curiosity.
