I noticed that too, he was taking pre algebra and I wondered what the heck is pre algebra.
In my freshman year of high school, I took algebra, there was no pre about it, then came advanced algebra, geometry, biology, physics, trigonometry. I guess they expected us to be ready for algebra after junior high, where we had already had a dose of it. Of course that was the late 50s and early 60s. Things are a bit different nowadays.
