Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said Giffords was the target of a gunman whom he described as mentally unstable and possibly acting along with an accomplice. He said Giffords was among 13 people wounded in the melee that killed six people, including Arizona's chief federal judge, a 9-year-old girl and an aide for the Democratic lawmaker. He said the rampage ended only after two people tackled the gunman.

**My opinion**
The other shooter was probably a normal citizen seeing a guy shooting down folks. He probably tried to shoot the perp and is now in hiding for fear of being labeled a kook.
That is, if the other shooter exists.
I'm gonna say this guy was a pawn. He was probably on some sort of medication (Paxil, Xanax) and was seriously unstable.
He was coached and provided with support.
The thing to look for is who was behind it but that won't happen.
What a perfect setup for an increasingly desperate political situation.
Seems like a nut job. He will surely be painted as a Tea Party member.
I wouldn’t be surprised that this shooter and that loon that wrote that screed on the Kos site were working together. They were both from Tuscon and they are both crazier than bat crap.
They tried to pin the Tea Party label on him but once his postings where found on the net and people who knew him came out and spoke about him that didn’t fly..so now they are blaming it on Palin etc for inciting him.

The Left is going to have to own this. There’s too much out there on the inter-net from this kid for them to hide. His own words convict him and DU, Huff-Po, Daily Kos and all the rest of the loonies on the Left have been running their collective mouths in temper tantrums and malevolent hissy fits and dark threats for years to try and say this is from the Right. It’s sad that this happened but this might be a watershed moment if we conservatives stand firm, respectful , moral and point to the facts of the incident and not allow the Left to brand us as the perpetrators of this.
Might have cell phone and/or email/im messages linking the liberal shooter to another liberal collaborator.

as the understatement of the year. but how was i supposed to know? and i am letting go of my anger at Giffords for helping the media create an anti-Pelosi and anti-111th Congress meme by being one of NINETEEN Democrats who failed to vote for my girl Nancy for Minority Leader. I am OF COURSE sooo glad Giffords looks like she will recover and i so hope she recovers quickly to get back on the horse and and back to representing us. but i still am not happy about her vote against Pelosi.
The freepers, teabaggers, and repugs in general are just trying to preliminarily deflect any blame when it is inevitably found out that this assassin has ties and/or sympathies to the far right. and they know this. i am SURE this killer voted for that fascist fuckball, Jesse Kelly. and i am SURE he’s a registered repug.

Sheriff Dupnik just outed himself as the king of bigotry in Pima county. Is he suggesting that all political rhetoric be suspended until there are no more mentally unstable people in the country?
i agree with all...I’ll tell you something, when I worked in a psych unit I noticed an overwhelming number of homosexuals were in there for schizophrenia.

The parents lives just changed forever. If they weren’t nutjobs before...this tragedy will undoubtly have a severe effect on them. Democrat or Republican - I feel for them - unless they were nutjobs themselves.
I think their son may be some kind of cshizophrenic. that disease can make the parents lives a living hell.
