Totally unnecessary. They already know who we are.

Trust me about this. If you don’t believe me, just go to some random blog and post a threat against some high official - you WILL have a knock on your door within 30-45 minutes.

But it us still very telling - and what it is telling me is that they (the PTB) are SCARED!!! Cat-scratch-Fever SCARED!!! of the internet!!!

I’m sure they already have the identity of everyone who posts on this forum, especially those of us who have been here for a long time (and probably weren’t as careful as we should have been when we started posting).

It’s truly ugly to see one’s government becoming a force in one’s life and suddenly feeling it as a threat. Or perhaps realizing that it regards us as threats. For what? Ridiculing Obama? Oooooh...

I hope we can attract attention to this and stop it. This would be absolutely fatal. When Ceausescu was dictator of Romania, everybody had to register their typewriters. They had to bring them down to the police station and type a few phrases - so that the police would have a type sample in case somebody started circulating typewritten anti- Ceausescu fliers...

I never thought I’d see the modern high-tech equivalent happening here. But it’s a whole different ball-game with a would-be communist dictator in the White House.

They probably see it as a double win for them. This could be a mechanism to make some sort of sales tax easier to implement, and they also want to make it easier to keep tabs on us.

I'm sure the libs will be all for it on both counts.
