Citing health law's benefits, Senate Democrats warn Boehner they'll block health care repeal

Top Senate Democrats are warning House Speaker-elect John Boehner they'll block any Republican effort to repeal President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

Citing better Medicare prescription coverage and other changes in the new law, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his top lieutenants say the overhaul "is too important to be treated as collateral damage in a partisan mission to repeal health care."

The letter says repeal would have "unintended consequences" for the part of the law that gradually closes the Medicare prescription drug coverage gap, as well as for other popular consumer benefits. Also signing the letter are Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Charles Schumer of New York and Patty Murray of Washington.

MAKE THEM DEFEND IT!

They like it so much, put them on record as to why.

Then plaster it all over the campaign trail.

Our Very Own Max Baucus (who reportedly authored the mess) is not among those who signed this little letter for Reid?

Interesting.

He must have got the scent of Incoming already.....

They can’t defend it because doctors have clearly stated they will cease accepting medicare patients. So how can the medicare recipients that Reid is lying to have anything? Reid is touting a lie. The media are lying for a failed cause and party.
The media need called to the carpet.

Red State Democrats are not on board... not Baucus, certainly not Manchin and my guess Webb and Pryor. They know voting for Obamacare is a ticket for political suicide. Maybe Reid, Schumer and Boxer don’t have to worry about it but a lot of vulnerable Democrats do. And they’ve seen the President has no coattails. This is an empty threat from the Senate Democratic leadership.

And if they are “children” at twenty-six then they should not be voting when they are eighteen. Consistency is required. A lot of recalibration needs to happen.

Let'em block it. But most importantly, the Republicans should not back down because of the "THREAT" of a filibuster or anything else. Force the vote/s so the American people will know where elected officials stand.

First, make them all drop their own government health coverage and buy into the same plans as the employees of the deli down the street. Second, debate and hold votes fifty times if necessary. Ratchet up the rhetoric every time. Talk about rationing, 18-month waits for appointments, and death panels.

Again and again and again and again, make the scumbags vote.

If its so popular, how come they didn’t want to defend it on the campaign trail last year? Now they talk!

It certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing if the Ds could be FORCED to defend their support for this unpopular monstrosity-again and again and again and-. Forcing them to block a repeal vote would be an excellent move IMO. Then move on to defunding, but bring back repeal votes, even if they ARE just symbolic at this point.

That phrase reminds me of the scene in Aliens where Ridley stumbles into the mother alien’s lair and you see other lurking about, waiting on a command.
