The defense ministry review, released on Thursday, details North Korea's military capabilities. It says the North has deployed large artillery guns and new, more powerful tanks near the border with the South. It also has added new elite forces trained to infiltrate the South and disrupt critical facilities.

The document says North Korea's plans to rely on its nuclear weapons, its long-range artillery, submarines, cyber-warfare and special forces to counter the South's high-technology military.

The deputy defense minister says since the last assessment, in 2008, North Korea has added 20,000 special forces troops.

Chang estimates North Korea now has 200,000 special forces soldiers, installed in light infantry units and placed on the front lines.

When the NorKs sank the South Korean corvette CHEONAN on 20 May 2010, the U.S. State Department should have ordered the evacuation of all Americans working in the South. DoD should have evacuated all U.S. military dependents.

Nothing has been done.

Therefore, when the NorKs either screw-up and cause an unintended resumption of the Korean War or they intentionally resume it, the 144,000 foreign nationals now at risk in the South will want to leave. They will clamor for the military to protect them, while the military will be fighting the NorKs.

To say that civilian foreign nationals living in South Korea are stupid is not unreasonable. However, people have a unique ability to engage in denial when the writing is on the wall for everyone to see.

Now is the time to leave South Korea while you're a still breathing civilian. Once the NorKs start South, you won't be.

If the NorKs do attack, his first instinct will be to surrender to Kim Jong-Il. Barry is a political organizer and not a leader.
