I would tell them it was a chicken shit bill and have no problem doing so. This is the final straw for me. I will never give money to another charity ever again. None of them. I am opening a new bank account with $200 tomorrow I am calling my charity fund.

Any time I feel like donating to some disaster which the government will inevitibly start passing out public (taxpayer) money, I am going to deposit it to my bank account. At the current rate, I should build up $1000 a year and be able to bail out myself.

They say charity starts at the home and that is where my “charity” will start and end from now on. I am utterly sick of being billed for everybody else in the whole frickin’ world and know that when my time comes, it won’t be there.

Since New York went big for the Democrats and Obama, is the only reason this bill is being pushed. Just another GD slush fund for political payoff. Decieve yourself if you must, but many of us are done.

We pay taxes in my city which more than covers the cost of fire service and their gold-plated pensions.

“Ok... then send me a check too. I sat on my butt in front of the TV for days worrying about New York. I’m injured because of that experience.”

Well if you feel that way, give me money too. I was on a boat out of NY to Jersey with a bunch of soot covered people. And I didn’t go through decontamination...

Cough cough...

Speaking of price tags, it’s time we bring our troops home already.

We have truly become an ungrateful nation that’s unworthy of their sacrifice. They pay the ultimate price in defense of the heroes of 9/11, their families and the rest of us, and are thanked with complaints that it isn’t enough.

*** I think this is a reasonable compromise on a bill for the heroes of 9/11. ***

True.
But the problem with this Bill is that it ISN'T for the 'heroes' of 9-11. As they and their families are and have been compensated.

This is for people like Truck Drivers who hauled debris to Staten Island and Demolition Workers who cut up the Steel Beams and are now claiming they're 'sick'. And a myrid of other claimants. Well all of these 'workers' should have known - TO WEAR A FRIGGEN MASK!

I've been in construction for 40+ years any every trade knows that when there's a dusty location you: PUT ON A MASK. Especially like when we have to hire a Demo Co. to rip out old 'stuff'. All those workers wear masks, or they get fired.

So this payoff with our tax dollars isn't for 'the heroes'. BTW, did you read this article? It states that Doctors can't even say if all these who are sick and wanting money now are sick due to what they did on or after 9-11.

an aside, I do wood working as a hobby (one of many) and when I use a power sander their ISN'T any warning on the sand paper package to wear a mask (that I know of) but I do it anyway because, I HAVE A BRAIN.

Okay: I get it... a lot of you don’t like the bill. I’ve seen lots of info quoted at me, but no sources or links substantiating them.

But I tell you one thing — those of you with weapons-grade invective towards these people — the ones saying chickens**t and basically telling NYers to go to h*ll... you will hear from me on FR if “9/11” comes out of your mouth to justify anything you say.

I lost friends that day. I have friends who suffer still because of the evil monsters who attacked us that day. I have a 9/12 mindset. Some of the things I’ve read here make me very discouraged and sad about how my fellow conservatives treat people who stand up and help their fellow citizens when the chips are down and we need to pull together AS AMERICANS.

That’s all I have to say. May you all find joy and comfort in these blessed days of Christmas.

Well if you feel that way, give me money too.

Sorry. You'll have to call 202-456-1414 and ask for a guy named Barry. He's got the Chinese checkbook...

Paste this into Google;

Estimated amount of money raised for funds dedicated to NYPD and FDNY families: $500 million

Choose from the zillion hits that result. That particular list came from NY Magazine;

http://nymag.com/news/articles/wtc/1year/numbers.htm

The numbers, of course have changed with time.

The bill that you are so keen on will end uo in the hads of the Brotherhood of Ironworkers and their lawyers. I know it. It’s a good feeling to danate this time of year; but this ien’t a donation. Have you read this bill? It actually name the International Brotherhood of Ironworkers BY NAME as beneficiaries.

This isn’t heartless of these folks here to question this. Charity is one thing; this is something else. Have you already forgotten the millions and millions raised and left unaccounted for already? Google images of rescue workers; you will see hundred of pictures of people walking around or working in the rubble without masks against dire warnings.

We saw this coming. This is something that should have been done a long time ago, with proper hearings and it wasn’t. There is a reason for that. It’s the same reason that the DADT and START Treaty got shoved through by this lame duck congress. It’s just another cheap scam.

Victory Gal, I agree with you. I don’t know all the details of the money will be distributed, but the bill does have protections to keep the money going to those who need it for health costs. I know these are real health problems - pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, COPD are not fake diseases. And some of our FRiends may not recall, but Christie Todd Whitman’s EPA issued a report that the air was safe.

Good points, all. I notice the New York Legislature didn't bother to pass legislation compensating these ‘victims.” Nope. Just Uncle Sam and his amazing, magical money borrowing and printing machine...

When I was a kid I worked in a factory. We used to tie back the “gates” that would come down and keep you from reaching into the presses too quickly, or force you to get your hands out before the 250 ton press closed (we were working under some pretty dangerous conditions) and the reason was part for the money (it was piecework) and part for the same reason that all the tough guys in their arm chairs are laughing at the football players who want bench warmers in a stadium. They would instead get broken fingers.

Now, I used to play pond hockey when I was a kid and took my chances tending goal without a mask (some say that explains a lot about me, but screw them) but I can tell you this; when you read the stories and there are plenty, of how some of these guys worked on the rubble without masks, they should also remember this; they knew what they were doing. They were warned. Just like tying back the safety gates, the warnings were ignored. Just like playing goal without a mask, the risk was understood.

The guys who played hockey without masks or helmets and the guys with three fingers and the guys with burns on their bodies from working our drop forges without harnesses; they wouldn’t be caught dead standing in line waiting for a check. They did it to themselves and if they were of a mind to live that way, they sure as hell wouldn’t be of a mind to cry about it later. You just got your morning shot in a shaky glass because it was easier to hold; that was a concession you MIGHT make.

This money is going to the union law offices.

Merry Christmas to You also. I set up my VictoryGal account today. I named it in your honor as your were the inspiration for my action.

$200 start up and will donate to the account every time I think of charity. And it is all because of you! After seeing your rant, I realized that the best charity in the world is my own family. Thank you VictoryGal for curing me of my stupidity of donating money to others who are only going to get another 2 payouts from the government with my tax dollars anyway.

This really is becoming a Merry Christmas.

I’ll be blunt. FU New York. Never gave a care for you one way or another. 9/11 brought me back in the fold, but the parasitic nature of the beast convinced me of my error, along with the election of Democrats and the attack on Bush by crazed liberals that infest that hole in the soul of the US.

Liberals that continue to try to insure the destruction of the US, and voting for obama in the 65+% range. Yep, just F off and die New York.

Does that make you feel better?

No, she needs to stay. Its evident the entitlement mentality has taken hold. Those cockroaches infest and destroy the new areas they move to, by enacting the same policies that destroyed their last nest.

I'm not decrying the passage of this bill but I do question its need. Will someone please tell me how a fireman, policeman, EMT, etc. in NY isn't covered for occupational illnesses? I oppose this because it isn't the rest of this country's job to make up for NY, NJ, etc.'s lack of willingness to take care of its own - especially for doing their jobs in the line of duty.

Were this bill to include as a preface that NY, NJ, CT, MASS and whatever state's employees will claim benefits under this that they were wholly deficient in meeting their obligations and won't, then I'd consider changing my mind.
