Duncan Hunter urges Senators to Reject the DREAM Act and Harry Reid’s DADT Legislation this Weekend!
TeleConference | 12/17/10 | Duncan Hunter

Posted on 12/17/2010 12:10:07 PM PST by pissant

Retired Congressman Duncan Hunter released this statement today regarding this weekend’s critical votes in the United States Senate:

The so-called DREAM Act does one thing – and that is it disserves the men and woman of our Border Patrol and our other border control agencies. It increases the magnet for illegal immigration into the United States. It is one more way of saying that if you get past the immigration officers, and you violate our laws and come into the United States, and you cut into the line in front of the people who are patiently waiting, you will be rewarded in some way. That is exactly the wrong message we should be sending in this age, when we need to really enforce the border and make sure that folks who come into this country knock on the front door. The Senate should reject this amnesty plan from the open borders lobby.

And once again, the liberals in the Senate and the House are prepared to “reward” the great men and women who won the war in Iraq by forcibly injecting practicing homosexuals into their ranks. I would advise the members of the Senate and the House to listen to your Marine Commanders, who commanded the point of the spear, the tip of the spear – that is the platoons, the companies, the battalions, and regiments of Americans in combat – to reject this new legislation that would repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. What the legislation really amounts to is an unprecedented injection of practicing homosexuals into the ranks of young men and women who joined the US Military not only for all the benefits that are offered, and not only for the opportunity to serve their country, but also for the wholesome atmosphere that the US Military has always maintained, with its reliance on traditional values. Those traditional values are about to be ripped apart by the leftwingers in the House and the Senate. My advice to all the members of the Senate who want to see the continued effectiveness of the US Military is to reject this radical approach that is being spearheaded by Barrack Obama and Harry Reid in the next couple of days.

Some folks are worried that Kent Conrad may vote No on DADT repeal, but vote counters tell me it’s not a problem

GOP Senator to Dems: If you try to pass DADT, Republicans won’t pass START

Washington Post

UPDATE, 4:11 p.m.: In an interview with me just now, Senator Bob Corker doubled down on his contention that if Dems move on DADT, Republicans will be less likely to support START.

“I felt like momentum was growing for START,” Corker said, adding that since Reid announced he was holding votes on DADT and DREAM, it has had a “chilling effect.”

“I’m watching support for the treaty erode, because of highly partisan political issues being brought up solely because activist groups in the Democratic Party want this done,” he continued.

Corker said he wasn’t issuing a personal threat, and was merely commenting on the reaction of his Senate GOP colleagues. When I pressed Senator Corker on whether Republican Senators would really base their decision on START on whether Reid held a vote on DADT, Corker didn’t answer directly.

“That being thrown into the middle of this debate is causing many Republicans to want to see START pushed back and candidly is causing them to oppose it,” Corker said. “This is hardening them against passage of this treaty.”

“That unknown has-been is irrelevant.....Palin’s support for a “pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens” is a bus ticket back to where they came from, and then they get in line with those attempting to come here legally. “

What a shame some people have NOTHING to do but spread LIES.

Palin plainly stated she was AGAINST deportation! Now, show us where she said what you say. She did NOT.

If half of you so called ‘conservatives’ hadn’t had your biased heads up your butts, we could have a DECENT president today....Duncan Hunter.

The real question is...WHY are some of you so intent on dismissing a REAL statesman with a PROVEN record??

Conservatives, my butt!

Which real statesman with a proven record that has National appeal would you be referring to?

FYI, Palin has said deportation is merely very difficult with 30 to 40 million criminals amongst us right now.

The PATH TO CITIZENSHIP she is referring to includes getting in line with the Legal process of immigration, enforcing EXISING laws, and it was clear to me.

I'm sorry you goofball Duncan Hunter followers can't seem to grasp the FAcT that he was and is an un-electable hasbeen, but that's not my problem.

Palin has energized the electorate on the Conservative side like none since Reagan....whether she wins the nomination in the good ol' boy Republican primaries is a tough road, as she has been bombarded so badly for 2+ years by the State-Run-Media that even Conservative weaklings don't see thru it.

Get a grip....your boy is history, and a newcomer will be recognized and promoted.

So long as so-called Conservatives vote for RINO's just because they're the ones with the financing to back them in endless ad promotions has left us where we are today...at the mercy of the establishment candidates and those who have NO NATIONAL APPEAL.

It’s hard to imagine how different the country would be had we given Hunter the reigns of power last time out.

FLASHBACK

Duncan Hunter Applauds Defeat of the DREAM Amnesty Act

Republican presidential candidate Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) applauded Republican colleagues in the Senate who yesterday were able to forestall liberal Senator Dick Durbin’s backdoor amnesty, the so-called DREAM Act. Had it passed, the act would have allowed legalization of many tens of thousands of illegal aliens and allowed their extended families to be afforded the same immigration rights as families of US citizens.

The attempted passage of the DREAM Act comes on the heels of last spring’s attempt for the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill, which, in Hunter’s words, “flies in the face of common sense.”

Commenting on the bill, Hunter chided, “This legislation should more appropriately be called the Nightmare Act. Rest assured, the Democrats see these illegal immigrants as new liberal voters and will continue to propose piecemeal methods of legalization, while being careful to never utter the term amnesty. The Senate Republicans, led by Mr. Jeff Sessions and others, earned a well-deserved ‘Thank you’ from the American people who respect the rule of law.”

Rep. Hunter authored and shepherded legislation that built a two-layer border fence outside of San Diego leading to a 53% drop in crime and 90% decrease in drug trafficking along that corridor. Hunter’s message of a stronger national defense, tighter border security, and fair trade with China is resonating with voters across the nation.

As always, Duncan Hunter nails it. If only he could get his message out. Should Sarah Palin become president, she would do well to tap him for one of any number of jobs in her cabinet.
