No, the Bellagio is still open. Steve Wynn opened a new casino next to the Venetian, then another next to that.

Wait a minute. The Belagio changed name several years ago. I think it’s now called “Wynn” or something like that. I’m sure they would have retired the Belagio chips by now.

It's getting tough to keep up with all the real estate transactions in Las Vegas over the past 10 years... I believe Steve Wynn sold the Mirage, Bellagio and Treasure Island to MGM several years ago... then took that money, bought the Desert Inn, tore it down and built the Wynn and then the Encore. All 5 hotel/casinos are still there.

Uh, no. The Bellagio is still there. The Wynn is north on the Strip about a mile on the NE corner of LV Blvd and Spring Mtn Road (Palazzo/Venetian is on the SE corner, TI on the SW corner, Fashion Show Mall on the NW corner.) You may be thinking of when Steve Wynn was the owner of the MGM Grand group which included Bellagio, TI, Mirage, NY/NY, etc., but sold it all and bulit the Wynn.

I’ll bet the 100 and down chips would be easy to cash in. Some Casinos downtown let you cash in your chips from the big strip casinos so you can play there. As a matter of fact most casinos cash in other casinos chips as a courtesy to players, esp high rollers. The larger denominations will draw more scrutiny, but this guy won’t have too much problem getting someone to give him say, 10 cents on the dollar. ESP in Vegas.

Don’t think so. Most in Vegas, as in elsewhere, value their junk.

Not all of them have RFID. Wynn does. Aria doesn’t. Some have them for $1000 and above chips. I don’t know about Bellagio, but last time I was there they did not have RFID.

Can you tell by looking at the chip?

Most articles are indicating the chips range in value from $100 to $25,000. No one is saying whether the Bellagio has RFID in the chips or not. Perhaps that was a factor in choosing the Bellagio.

There are strict rules on other Casinos cashing chips for each other. Usually is confined to only sister properties. However, I am sure dancers and hookers will gladly take them.

Anyone hustling a $25K Bellagio chip may as well wear a sign saying they robbed the Bellagio. The Buzzards close to Vegas are going to eat well soon.

You can barely tell unless you hold them up next to a regular chip, but they are usually slightly bigger, unless they changed the technology over the past 2 years (which they may have).

Plus on a busy night in Vegas, guy sits down at a $25 table and plops down some black chips, 4 or 5, no problem. If the guy is careful and patient he will never get caught.
