Sarah Palin and the Haters of American Normal (Elite "Left" & "Right" are the problem)
American Thinker ^ | Monday December 13, 2010 | By Stuart Schwartz

Posted on 12/13/2010 7:10:39 AM PST by Bigtigermike

We are just south of Christmas, and the nation's insiders -- self-proclaimed blue-bloods by birth and/or worldview -- have declared open season on Sarah Palin.  Crazed left and sclerotic right have united in common purpose -- "hellbent," as Politico put it -- to rid this nation of the possibility of a presidency that would most assuredly end in "apocalyptic disaster" after which "the survivors will envy the dead" (or so says that fading leftist icon, The New Republic).  Stop her now -- or we may end up with a normal American at the helm.

Sarah Palin is just too dumb to understand how lousy it is to be in this materialist and fascist society, this hateful America, the Atlantic tells us.  Scorn laces the left as New York Times opinion writers let us know that behind the deceptive Palin smile "lies anger" and an unwillingness to accept the decline that those who know better have visited upon us out of wisdom and necessity.  Shut up and bowl (or hunt or fish or tailgate, they say, and leave the decisions to us.

Meanwhile on the right, MSNBC's house conservative, Joe Scarborough, says it's time for Republican insiders to "man up and confront Sarah Palin."  She's poison for responsible (read: insider) government.  Bush consigliere and FOXNews analyst Karl Rove is leading the charge to stop this outsider, whom he regards as "unsuitable" for the presidency, which is a job best left to those who brought us porous borders, intrusive regulation, and exploding government spending.  (In some respects, the Obama reign is simply the Bush presidency on steroids.)  From left and right, insiders all, the anger is palpable at what James Lewis of American Thinker terms "American exceptionalism in the flesh -- and downright attractive flesh at that.

“I just think she does more for conservatism in her current role than she would as Prez.”

Why is her current role given so much weight? Why even listen to the gadfly if being president isn’t the end goal?

Like I said it mystifies me.

Let me clarify.

My understanding is that the reason Sarah Palin resigned as governor of Alaska was because of the number of frivolous lawsuits filed against her. She resigned because she didn't want public money used to defend her. (She was also taking a big hit personally, but I don't think that would be much of an issue for a sitting Prez.)

At any rate, the left hates Sarah so much that there would be even more frivolous lawsuits filed. If she was concerned about spending money of the taxpayers in Alaska on these suits, I'm sure she'd be equally concerned about the U.S. taxpayers spending money on lawsuits.

That's my only reason for thinking she probably should not run.

“Not one single potential candidate has called for a massive ramp up new Energy policy has she has....how can she be effective for conservatives if say President Pawlenty goes in another direction? The other candidates have been silent on the Federal Reserve actions other than Palin, how can that help our criticism of that if Palin is sitting home knitting while President Mitt Romney an establishment guy would do nothing or say nothing!”

Hear hear!!

Seems I remember when the Networks wouldn't cover GW's speeches at all. On the other hand I don't think a day goes by that Obama doesn't show up on my screen.

Strange huh?

You have the Bully Pulpit if they give it to you, else you had just as well be speaking to the ladies auxiliary library committee.

And yet, even with that, he/she is considered the leader of the Free World, the most powerful Man/Woman on the earth.

Even with that fact, Sarah Palin as POTUS would have far more relevance, power, and the ability to change the political landscape than she does today.

Those posting such crap are insincere, or have not thought through completely.

" Shut up and bowl (or hunt or fish or tailgate, they say, and leave the decisions to us. "

This philosophy, if you care to check it out, is exactly what brought the great Roman Empire to its knees. Then it was called "Bread and Circuses".

So true!

The posts on this thread seem to reflect a change in tactics of the PDS brigade.

Sarah's decision to step down was a multi-faceted decision.

Who's to say that if one or more of the factors were not present she would have decided to stay and fight.

At any rate, the flaws in the Alaska legal system that allowed the unending frivolous lawsuits, don't exist at the federal level.

She would not be required to pay for her defense herself as the Alaska Law forced her to do.

Furthermore, I believe, from some other postings on FreeRepublic, that the ability to sue the sitting President of the US is either radically limited or impossible.

She's going to run, and She's going to win, hands down.

bttt

If we could somehow eliminate envy from the human genome, there would be almost no reason for the left to exist. They would instantly lose that which animates them, for example, envy masquerading as justice or economic theory.

It seems for some reason to be the case that no one in America has “standing” to demand that the president show proof of eligibility for office...

But I’m sure those same courts would have no problem giving “standing” to someone suing a conservative president.

Sarah Palin is a daily, stellar reminder that abortion is NOT necessary in order for a woman to have a happy fulfilling life and a sucessful career.

You'd think all women would love her...but this is exactly why so many hate her...she is a daily reminder to them what failures they are...

I suppose people like me listen to her for the same reasons we listen to Hannity and the like. . .to get information the left wing media won't give you. . .to get a conservative analysis of the facts.

Care to run a time analysis on how much face time GW received on TV compared to Obama?

Facts are tough to face up to, but until you do, you will keep making nonsensical statements detached from reality.

On the other hand, Palin will likely be on TV daily, but not in a complimentary way. Could go either way on whether it helps or not.

I am an ardent supporter of Palin, no one can deny that, but w need all the help we can get, and thinking that the MSM would give her a Bully Pulpit is a little out of the realm of possibility, and that is assuming we even have a free press by then.

I would ask that you guys just keep an open mind.

You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

This past year has been to reintroduce her and her family to America.

That’s pretty much over now and she is going to spend the next year focusing on policy positions, making speeches and writing editorials, drawing a sharp contrast with Obama and what a Palin administration would do.

She has been working a well thought out strategy to perfection (keeping her name front and center, brilliant PR) and everything is falling into place as planned.

Her detractors have no idea what’s in store.

I know I am going to get flamed for this, but here goes.

The deficit was dropping in the last few years of the Bush presidency, until he made that stupid deal on the bank bailout. Revenues to the government were increasing because of the tax cuts made before 9/11. If 9/11 had not occurred, I am sure that we would all be talking about how great a job the president had done in keeping the Federal Government under control.

Facts are tough.

Reagan was treated in the same way you claim, and rightfully so, Sarah will be treated. So was Bush and yet both won two terms.

Sorry, the only one posting nonsensical posts are "Concern" trolls like your self pretending to be Sarah supporters.

Not buying, not one little bit.

You've just proved my point with your irrational rants. It is a waste of time to try to have an intelligent conversion with someone like you. You will just turn to childish name calling if someone disagrees with you. Enjoy your little hissy fits.

My point was a simple one. The article gives very good examples of vicious attacks on Sarah Palin by the MSM etc. I agree with this part 100%. The article also implies that those in the Republican Party who disagree with Sarah or who do not consider her to be the best choice for president also hate her and are the same as those who viciously attack her. That part I disagree with.

Just to clarify I like Sarah Palin and have been a strong supporter of her when the MSM attacked her and her family. I am also very impressed with her ability. However, I am not sure that she is ready to be president. If she runs for the Republican nomination she should be prepared to defend her positions and her experience and those who disagree with her should not be called “haters” etc.
