We need a new standard for all public officials including Congress, cops, judges, etc..

It should be known as the “if you abuse your position or steal from taxpayers, you’re going to jail for life” bill.

I don’t care about their politics, we need honesty and a belief that citizens can depend on them and their ethics.

Give them a trial and then a chance for an appeal but that should be it. You’d start to see a new level of honesty instead of the ever increasing corruption. No more wrist slaps.

Political activity of any kind is illegal unless it is done by Democrats.

Money laundering? From what I understand about this case that seems like a bizarre stretch.

“And Rangel gets a slap on the wrist...”

Rangel should go to jail but I don’t think even the biggest freeper would think of asking life in prison for his crime. We have to give a higher sentence to the rapists and murderers.

Life in prison?
He’s lucky he isn’t strung up, that should be the price
of abusing the public trust.

In what way do you perceive that he “abused the public trust” ? I’m actually curious.

Having not been at the trial and not heard all of the evidence I can’t say with full confidence that it was a travesty or a correct verdict. You probably can’t either.

Hmmm...

How about guilty verdicts for money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering?

Unless you're suggesting the trial is all a lie, and Texans convicted DeLay on totally trumped up charges. I understand he had top shelf attorneys.

Are you implying everyone on the jury was a leftist Communist, out to get DeLay? If so, what happened to Delay's attorneys during the jury selection process?

Delay is only guilty of beating the Democrats in Texas.
