When a child named Curtis Bowen was slapped by his teacher at Martin Luther King Jr., Elementary School, no one really heard about it. Except for President Obama, Vice President Biden, their wives, three senators, and more than 20 other officials.
They all were CC'ed on the whopping 40-page letter that Curtis' mother, Lisa Henry Bowen, sent to school district superintendent John Covington. In it, Bowen makes mind-boggling demands for reparations. One recipient called the letter "one of the craziest things I've ever seen" and leaked it to the Internet. And Lisa Henry Bowen even created her own web site for the occasion: www.CurtisGotSlapped.com.
Lisa Henry Bowen, who copyrights her name and her son's name throughout the letter, kicks it off by identifying herself as the "intellectual property owner" of fourth grader Curtis Bowen (C). She alleges that Curtis was caught horse playing and was slapped by a teacher named Ms. Curry. Lisa Henry tried to report the teacher to social services for child abuse, but was denied as Curtis' skin wasn't broken.
That sent Lisa Henry into a spiral of outrage. She calls Ms. Curry "one audacious white bitch with 'balls'", and then conducts some informal gonad comparisons. "I happen to have some big 'balls' too. And I ain't afraid to use them." (All emphasis hers, throughout.)
Mrs. Bowen uses her balls-to-the-wall logic to devise a way for the school district to repay her. She claims that Curry slapped 1/4 of Curtis' "million dollar face." Therefore, Lisa Henry encloses a homemade bill for a quarter of a million dollars. The $250K bill is issued to five educational entities, so she's really demanding more than $1 million.
And that's just page eight!

After reading her manifesto, I am left wondering, how are her demands any different than what welfare already provides?

This is crazy! Page 8, where she demands 250,000.00 is a dose of hilarity. This woman MUST be crazy! I believe she loves her son, but this is the nuttiest thing I have ever heard of. If this is the worst thing that happens to that boy, he’s lucky.
His mother is doing him NO favors.
I think the public schools have gotten so disrespectful of children and parents, everyone is going crazy in opposition to each other. It’s like every other part of American life that “progressives” control. It’s that elitist attitude where teachers and administrative staff mistake themselves as superior authoritarians over the families they serve.
It is obvious that this woman does not get out enough..Notice that she has blue balls in this picture. Of course the mere mention of color is racist..
When I went to school, the teacher and school admin got a huge benefit of the doubt from my parents unless it was open and shut that they were in the wrong. Even then, it would have to be really serious before my parents would step in (which happened like once ever, and that teacher was let go soon after for more serious improprieties).
This was back in the day when a student running in the halls would be grabbed by the shoulders, spun around, pushed against the wall, and chewed out pretty aggressively about rule compliance. Now a teacher gets sued for assigning after school detention.
Sounds like mommy could use a good slap of here own. Make it a family event.

Maybe we should start a “Bitch Slap Line” as they did in “Airplane”!
Well, it has been well over 10 days (the deadline for her demand of the $250,000 payment) so I wonder if the KCMO school board has paid out yet for slapping 1/4 of her wonderful little boy’s million dollar face?
Or maybe they have the common sense to tell this crazy woman where to go?
BTW has anyone attempted to calculate the full amount of all her insane demands? You know, the cost of the Disney World vacations, hotel fees, flights, therapy sessions, paying off her mortgage, Kwik Trip gas cards, in-person sessions with all the different jazz musicians, all the new jazz instruments, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum?

This woman needs a reality check, QUICK!
It looks like part-publicity stunt to me, too, will all the outrageous demands, the publicity shots, and her focus on the race of the teacher. (Would it have made a difference if the teacher who slapped her son were a different color?)
Her son looks like a nice kid in the photos. He probably didn’t deserve to be slapped, if indeed he was slapped. The boy is a child, not a teen. I’m raising three sons. I could understand a teacher having to restrain a child from hurting himself or others. Slapping is something an adult does when the adult is out of control.
But, the mother is not going to gain much sympathy with that letter. ;-)
