Boxing or another form of martial arts training are the only resort for those that are force to conform to a "No Tolerance Policy" environment. Only other choice is to be a victim of the bullies (the State included).

Not that it matters because this happened in CT, but will this mother get a jury trial?

Fight back and the victim will run into the school’s zero tolerance against fighting. This happened to me many, many years ago but better than being picked on.

While boxing/martial arts training are excellent to handle bullying, it is most likely the case that this mother could not afford the costs of that type of training. IIRC my kid’s karate classes at a medium level studio ran $100+/mo, and that was more than 10 years ago.
