Too young to remember the latter. I was a toddler. But that’s an interesting observation I hadn’t thought of.

Connecticut is 80 mi north of NYC?

The town of Branford is. It's on I95 heading south to NY.

The Battle of Karbala took place on Muharram 10, in the year 61 of the Islamic calendar[2] (October 10, 680)[5][6] in Karbala, in present day Iraq. On one side were supporters and relatives of Muhammad’s grandson Hussein ibn Ali, on the other side was a military detachment from the forces of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph.

The Battle of Karbala is commemorated during an annual 10-day period held every Muharram by the Shi’ah as well as many Sunnis, culminating on its tenth day, Ashura.[7]

Which narrative are we on now? I lose count. Is it “It’s not terrorism” time, or is it “it is terrorism and it’s Bush’s fault” time?

Lovely. Just lovely.

BRANFORD — Authorities shut down the Travel Centers of America truck stop and cordoned off roads around it for a period of time tonight as a result of an unspecified investigation being led by state police with local assistance.

Police told the Register authorities had located a truck that state police had been searching for to determine whether there was a “problem with it.”

Around 8 p.m. about a half dozen police vehicles were staged around East Industrial Road and while trucks could leave the area, they were not permitted to enter.

Police were told to be on the lookout for a brown Peterbilt tractor-trailer that may have a bomb in it that was en route from Rhode Island to New York City. Officers were told if they encountered it to stop it and create a perimeter and stand by.

FBI investigating truck possibly carrying explosives in Conn.

The FBI was Friday investigating a truck containing possible explosives in Branford, Connecticut, the Hartford Courant reported.

Police had been looking for the tractor-trailer which was found about 6:00pm local time at the TA truck stop off I-95 in Branford, about 80 miles (128 kilometers) north of New York City.

Troopers took the driver and a passenger into custody at gunpoint before they checked the vehicle for hazards, the newspaper reported.

FBI agents surrounded the truck and the state police bomb squad were also called to search it, a town official said.
