And just what if several hundred thousand of your fellow frustrated commuters strap on their own jet packs and “sky up” at the same time, headed for the same downtown destination? Multiple midair carnage on a horrific scale!

or the fact that you are betting your life on the reliability of the vehicleI am willing to start putt-putting along just a foot or two off the ground, until the technology improves wrt safety. I would dress up like the Michelin man and not complain, for the sheer delight of the 21st c Kitty Hawk moment. Just don't burn ma shoes!

FINALLY.
I've been waiting since that afternoon in '62 in Tomorrowland.

Swell idea, if you’re one of only a few guys with a jetpack. Put a few thousand of them over any downtown area, though .... it wouldn’t be safe on the sidewalks below.

This thing isn’t really a jetpack so much as it is a compact helicopter. One is supported by ducted fans, not by combusted gases rushing out of a nozzle.
So the burned shoes problem would not be an issue...

Is it big enough! It looks like a VW engine strapped to to gigantic dixie cut dispensors!
To: Red Badger
Looks like a ducted fan, not a jet.

Methinks you’d need a couple of engines off a 747 to get THAT off the ground....
