Were the Founding Fathers including efforts at establishing an Islamic “state without borders” in their concept of freedom of religion? I don’t believe they were. In their day they wouldn’t have thought that possible. They were concerned about equal rights for Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, Quakers, Jews. . . . .
“Were the Founding Fathers including efforts at establishing an Islamic state without borders in their concept of freedom of religion?”
I don’t recall reading that there were any Muslims on the Mayflower.
Scratch Episcopalians! There were no Episcopalians until the American Revolution.
The Episcopal Church was started when the Founding Fathers passed laws making treasonous the Church of England's required religious practice of swearing allegiance to and praying for the King. Those congregations were reorganized - without the treasonous religious elements - as the Episcopal Church.
The Founding Fathers knew that true love of the Constitution & Country required that "Religious Freedom" ends were treason to that Constitution & Country begins. True patriots will see their lesson for today's America.
ADDITION: Those congregations of The Church of England that would not reorganize, were forced to leave the country.
Bump.
