Pelosi Facing Dissent in Party (Mississippi RAT signs petition to repeal Commiecare™)

Pelosi Facing Dissent in Party
Published September 17, 2010

Swing-district Democrats, fighting for their political lives, are beginning to turn on Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), one of the most powerful House speakers in decades but also one of the most polarizing figures in U.S. politics.

In recent days, a Democratic congressman from Mississippi, Gene Taylor, signed a Republican petition for a vote to repeal the health-care law she championed. A half-dozen Democratic candidates have aired advertisements seeking to draw distance from the speaker, including one released Friday by long-time Rep. Chet Edwards of Texas.

The ferment among moderate to conservative Democrats shows that Ms. Pelosi, more than President Barack Obama, has become a target of voter anger in the 2010 campaign, the face of a party that passed a health-care bill into law and navigated controversial climate-change legislation through the House. It is also an indication that Ms. Pelosi and her liberal colleagues in the House leadership will face a feistier party when they return next year, even if they hold the majority.

The tension is already being seen in the fight over taxes, the main issue now before Congress.

Ms. Pelosi, more than President Barack Obama, has become a target...

Probably a load off Hussein's rookie mind.

Gene Taylor MUST GO! He’s running for reelection against Republican Steven Palazzo. Democrat Taylor is a career politician who’s been in office over 20 years.

According to Americans for Tax Reform:

“Gene Taylor like many others is a BDINO (Blue Dog in Name Only). He voted to make Pelosi Speaker, he voted to make Waxman head of the Committee. He voted to put Barney Frank in charge of our banking system. Mike Ross, Pelosi and the other Democrats declared that the Blue Dogs were on board. If he’s not, he should have proudly indicated so—he didn’t. If he’s upset with the Blue Dogs for their decision, he should consider resigning from that caucus. If he doesn’t like being tarnished with supporting Pelosi’s government take over of healthcare, he should bring it up with her.

Congressman Taylor has historically had a difficult time telling the truth and keeping his promises.

On March 1st, 1996, Gene Taylor signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, promising his constituents he would oppose all income tax increases while serving in Congress . Apparently, he did this just to get elected, as his written word has turned out to be worthless. When Republicans controlled the Congress from 1996 to 2006, he never had the opportunity to vote for a tax increase. The first Congress he had the chance to vote for a tax increase, he did.”

Not true. As the November election approaches, he’s desperate to keep his 20-year seat and will do and say anything to keep it.

How about a pledge not to vote for her for Speaker. Would be more meaningful.

I meant that toungue-in-cheek, but you’re right about his motivations.

Ah, yes! I can see your sarcasm now that I re-read your post.

I’m just so fired up wanting this guy to be booted out. I live in his district.

There was a news report done by a television station out of Mobile, and they did an investigation about FEMA fraud. This was three years after the storm (at that time), and they found that many people were still living in hotels and receiving three catered meals a day all paid for by taxpayers—three years after Katrina! Anyway, the news crew confronted Taylor, once while he was with Pelosi and once at another location, and they asked him about these people taking advantage of the system. You can’t believe what a jackass Taylor was to that reporter!

There used to be video of the news report, but it has been scrubbed from You Tube, and I can’t find it on the station’s website. I included links to it in this article I wrote, but they’ve “disappeared” during this election year: http://www.dakotavoice.com/2010/04/amnesty-international-to-us-spread-the-wealth-or-you-violate-civil-rights/ Strange, but true! HA!

From your linked article: Although you would not know it from the media’s revisionist history, the Mississippi Gulf Coast was ground zero for the brunt of the storm, not New Orleans...

Years ago we drove through a little town on the Mississippi coast, Ocean Springs I beileve it was. It was wiped out. I have a relative in Alabama who sent pictures showing major devastation. Both states were practically overlooked in the MSM's coverage of the storm as you well know. The focus was almost entirely on New Orleans for purely political reasons.

How right you are!

Ocean Springs is in the eastern coastal county, Jackson. I live right off the beach in Gulfport, Harrison County. The entire coastline of Mississippi was about ninety percent wiped off the face of the earth for about two or three blocks inland. The buildings, the beachfront mansion homes and cottages, the businesses—hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc.—everything, just gone!

New Orleans is loaded with Democrats, many minority Democrats, and those people are the focus of the world. The city was flooded by the broken levees that the Democrat levee commission allowed to fall into disrepair.

This is in no way a defense of Pelosi...

How can people NOT blame Obama for the legislation we’ve had shoved up our asses by the Dems?

It reminds me of my liberal (she says she’s an independent) sister who told me with a straight face that Obama’s problem is that “Obama just wants to help everyone, he has a bleeding heart like his mother” and that people in his administration “are doing what they want to do regardless of what Obama says”.

I asked her if Obama was simply incompetent or if he simply had no testicular fortitude because to believe her explanation of Obama those would be the only two possibilities.

That there are Americans who believe Pelosi, Reid, Holder etc are simply running wild while Obama sits back unable to do a thing is a good indicator as to why we end up with the people in office we have. I’ve got to wonder how they can add 2 + 2 together if they can’t even draw a simple line from Pelosi to Obama.

The New Orleans levees broke because US Corps of Engineers skimped on construction.
New Orleans levee board only cuts grass on levees and makes
sure they are policed. It was a political plum, but blame
lies with the Corps. Can’t wait for government medicine.

New Orleans (Orleans Parish) is a giant Dem block of votes.

Well put. Despite advance warnings, the refusal to leave and/or the failure to evacuate created a situation that stressed emergency and rescue services beyond the breaking point.

Mississippe and Alabama found ways to rebuild on their own. That should be the big story, but of course they are not the focus of the world.

Who directs the Corps of Engineers at the local level? The levee commission is notorious for corruption and mismanagement of funds. They have every bit to do with levee upkeep and maintenance.

From one article [http://www.pursuingholiness.com/2005/11/23/stop-funding-nola-katrina-recovery/]:

“As it stands now, each area of metro New Orleans has its own levee board, ostensibly responsible for keeping the levees in good repair. The Orleans Levee Board does pretty much anything but that, as I’ve documented in detail here on Dummocrats. While we were in Texas after Katrina, I read and summarized all of their 2005 minutes in an attempt to find out what led up to the levee breaks. They spent almost no time or money on the levees, instead focusing on the airport, marinas, and commercial rental property under their control. Blanco wants to create another layer of bureaucracy over the levee boards. If things aren’t bad enough, let’s add another layer of government… way to solve problems, Governor!”

Right. We’re not a story, because we’re not whiners, and we have quietly gone about rebuilding where we’re able. Most of what was lost has not been rebuilt, and our coastline is full of empty lots and countless “for sale” signs.

GT’s new add attacks Palazzo on the eminent domain issue.
“Hey G, the dems already have taken the US away, who cares?

What is the best choice for MS now?
