What you say is true.

HOWEVER:

There are a few differences. First thing, there are no minimum-wage jobs in the government, this skews numbers up, a little. Secondly, the cost of living in DC (where many fed jobs are) is atrocious compared to many areas.

Adjusting for that, benefits/salaries may still be high, but let’s make sure we’re making a fair comparison.

that is an excellent point about how most jobs in the Government pay good wages, when compared to many sub standard jobs in the private sector. Of course, the bloated compensation packages in the financial sector would also skew the numbers in favor of private business.

It turns out that with adjustments for those factors, and also a few others (education, job experience, and most of all citizenship -- one of the things the feds do well is enforce the rule that you have to be a citizen to work there) the scales come out about equal.

Really, this whole kerfluffle is an attempt to blow smoke and conceal the real problem -- illegal aliens depressing private-sector wages.

The people I have to deal with (the IRS) don't deserve to even make minimum wage. They are clueless & worthless!

I could get more accurate answers if I called the animal shelter and ask one of their animals.

You can call ten times and get ten different answers and they may all be wrong!
