Oh man....now you got dem Fwee Twaders in a tizzy. Dump their subsidies....watch them squeal.

Please don't throw me into that Brier patch.

I'd like all subsidies to be eliminated immediately. The only squeals will come from big government "conservatives" like you.

Considering free trade, especially NAFTA, has to be supported with subsidies and higher taxes....I think you are the “socialist” and definitely no patriot. How are those bailouts working for you....

My weak attempt at humor. I think that the only thing that will stop them coming over is to get serious about our border and to start aggressively enforcing our laws inside the country.

Maybe the US should impose a stiff tariff on the people that Mexico exports to the US.

And yet we still allow their beat up, unsafe, POS trucks ply our highways...

That we can hang on President Bush and the democrat congress that got elected back in 2006...

Really? Please cut and paste the portions of NAFTA that support your claim.

Standby, when I get my broadband connection back and I can do a faster search in the archives here, I will post the two or three threads (that I can recall, along with the discussion on the Texas board) that were discussed here on FR to those keywords...

Back in 2005-06, was when some trade folks were complaining thatthe mexican trucks were not allowed to venture farther than 100 miles into the country, President Bush with the support of congressional committees and the leadership loosened those restrictions...

Can we retaliate by slapping a hefty tariff on Mexican exports like illegal alines?

How about sending Mexico a bill for medical care for them?!

That won't be necessary. Mexican long-haul trucks were driving all over the United States for a year (or maybe more). The on-road carnage the Teamsters promised us would occur never happened.

Incidentally, where's the on-road carnage occuring in the buffer zone now? Mexican trucks have been driving those roads since the late 1980's. You'd think that, by now, the Teamsters, the Greens, Ralph Nader, or some independent trucking groups would've collected some statistics.
