In an apparent break with his son, Kentucky GOP Senate candidate Rand Paul, Rep. Ron Paul unleashed a lengthy and at times angry statement on his website Friday that supports the rights of Muslims to build whats become known as the Ground Zero Mosque.
The elder Paul, known as a staunch libertarian and small government conservative, argues strongly that New York Citys Muslim community has every right to build the mosque and Islamic cultural center two blocks from the site of the 9/11 attacks.
Rand Paul, by contrast, has sided with many conservatives asking that the site of the mosque be moved in deference to the wishes of those who lost loved ones during the attack.

Idiot.
Just say no to Sharia, Jihad and pedophile profits.
Sounds like Ron Paul might have a thing for women in burqas.
I have no idea what some people see in this guy. He does occasionally have good points, but oftentimes is too loony...
some people “jump the shark” with water skis
Ron Paul does it with rockets!!!!!
Probably that fatwa...
No one’s debating the “right” to build a mosque at Ground Zero.
With Islam’s penchant for symbolism, the question is “should” they build it.
If you’re OK with a strong symbol of conquest from a group that murdered almost 3000 people, then I guess you’re OK with the Cordoba project.
But if you see it for what it is, a slap in the face of every American, then the right answer is HELL no.
Memo to Ron Paul:
When the Muslims impose Sharia Law and begin persecuting, stealing from, enslaving, imprisoning and killing Christians in the US, will you be angry then?
Islam and the US Constitution ARE NOT COMPATIBALE.
UH Oh
Na, he agrees with the Imam...that the US asked for it on 9/11, and that Israel should be destroyed, ie, the One State Solution.
There’s a difference between having a right and being right.
Too bad Paul doesn’t realize that.
“I have no idea what some people see in this guy.”
I agree with many of his Libertarian positions. But others leave me cold.
The line of mostly younger people lined up for his autograph at CPAC had an uncanny resemblance to the cantina scene in Star Wars...
Ron Paul is a nut-job.
Ron Paul:Where the hell did he come from, and will they take him back, please?
ha ha ha
I am not sure people are arguing over their legal right, it does their cause no good to do so.
I hope the son is better and I think he is. This was the last straw for me with the old man. He is very bright but is totally clueless about 1400 years of Islam’s subjugation.
