Wife of 'ground zero mosque' imam epitomizes Islam's modernizing voice

One of the leaders of the proposed Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero has spent years trying to amplify the voices of educated women within Islam. In this way, Daisy Khan epitomizes the so-called "moderate Muslim" and modernizing force from within Islam that some Americans are impatient to see.

....

As I wrote at the time, their idea was "to ensure that women's perspectives on Islamic law become part of religious deliberation in the Muslim world – particularly on issues such as domestic violence, divorce, and inheritance."

...

Khan explained to me the muftia effort, saying: "Islam is a religion of law, and it is important to express the principles of social justice within the framework of Islamic law." ...

WISE took as its first project a detailed argument (pdf) against both domestic violence and violent extremism using Islamic scholarship. Next topics for the group include female genital cutting, honor killings, and child marriages. The training of muftias remains a work in progress as WISE finishes a curriculum and looks for partners.

Well, we have the wife of this imam working to keep her genitals from being cut off. Meanwhile, her husband states the USA should become Sharia compliant, AND that the USA was an accessory to the 9/11 attackers, AND that we created Osama bin Laden.

Her admission that Islam is a religion of law indicates that it is political, and that she and her husband see it that way. His assertion that the USA should be Sharia compliant is a policy objective. This is no longer religious but political. That politic is one in direct threat to the USA.

Islam needs to go the way of Nazism.

Extermination by total warfare.

""Islam is a religion of law, and it is important to express the principles of social justice within the framework of Islamic law." ... "

Oh Boy. Now it's not a religion of violins, but a religion of law.

Law superior to the US Constitution?

Take it up with Sotomayer and Kagan. I hear they are looking for some new foreign laws to apply here.

The U.S. 'OBAMA MUSLIM' STATE DEPARTMENT....

State Department officials on Monday confirmed Feisal Abdul Rauf, the Imam of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque, will soon be going on a trip of the Middle East and the U.S. government will be picking up the tab."

I am old enough to remember when the commies said that they would take America over without firing a shot.
I firmly believe this is what the muzzies are doing today.
We need to stop kissing their asses and kick them out of our country.
THIS COUNTRY IS TOO TOLERANT OF THOSE THAT HATE US IN THE GUISE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I wonder what the lovely Daisy Khan thinks about the recent fatwa that allows breast feeding of non related males (in private of course) recently issued from Egypt.

Hey Daisy...chew on this:

he issue of breast-feeding men is currently a hot topic in Egypt and has been the focus of the media in many Middle Eastern countries. It all started when Dr. Izzat Attya who is the head of the department of Hadith in Al-Azhar, which is the world’s most prestigious Islamic University, issued a fatwa, or religious opinion. The fatwa declared that, it is legitimate for a working Muslim woman to breast-feed her male colleague to avoid the sin of ‘khulwa’ (staying with a stranger in one room). Similar fatwas had been issued in the past by many sheikhs in many Middle-Eastern countries, but this is the first time it comes from a high level academic of Al-Azhar.

This Imam is simply practicing Islam...

Al-Takeyyah (ahl-tah-KAY-uh) is the Islamic principle of lying for the sake of Allah. Falsehoods told to prevent denigration of Islam, to protect oneself, or to promote the cause of Islam are sanctioned by the Qur’an, including lying under penalty of perjury in testimony before the United States Congress, lying or making distorted statements to the media such as claiming that Islam is a religion of peace, and deceiving fellow Muslims when the one lying has deemed them to be apostates.

He’d dump her in a New York minute if she was any less useful to “Allah’s cause” of Sharia in America...

These people really are the Liberals Within Islam, or the Moderates as they might be called.

They're still very doctrinaire and narrow.

You grow up in an Islamic society it is virtually impossible for you to empathize with anyone.

I'd like to say, my society will address these people without resort to tailoring our message to fit within Islamic law. We not only don't have to we don't want to. It is up to them to learn to understand what we are saying, and to shut up that incessant whining!

Your statement.

Dead eyes. Husband too. Probably decapitated, one day, by husband.

This rings a bell with me. I had mentioned before while in England 1994, there was a debate on the television. A man was pleading with an imam not to have a mosque built in a 1000 year old village of 600 people. He said "please build it outside, there is lots of available countryside". I saw the cold eyes and icy demeanor of the imam. He would not budge, quoting the "laws" that YOU made. I left the pub where I watched the debate sickened.

In seeing many of the imams on television, I notice their repressed and taut visage. They must be some of the unhappiest people on the face of this earth. Happiness must come when they make someone else self destruct and aid in that process.

We cannot let them drag us down.
