WikiLeaks preparing to release more Afghan files

LONDON – WikiLeaks spokesman Julian Assange said Thursday his organization is preparing to release the rest of the secret Afghan war documents it has on file. The Pentagon warned that would be more damaging to security and risk more lives than the organization's initial release of some 76,000 war documents.

That extraordinary disclosure, which laid bare classified military documents covering the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010, has angered U.S. officials, energized critics of the NATO-led campaign, and drawn the attention of the Taliban, which has promised to use the material to track down people it considers traitors.

Something tells me they wouldn’t be doing this to the Israelis.

I don’t understand why they’re treating him with kid gloves. He’s in possession of stolen property ... arrest him.

Shut this traitor down, and turn him over to Mitch Rapp for interrogation.

I agree.

I also think the man behind WikiLeaks is an Australian, as such can the US government arrest and try him without the State Department ‘filing’ the appropriate paperwork and legally extraditing him?

Also, members of Congress do this on a regular basis and we still have not found the gumption to prosecute them.

Everything bad that happens is Bush's fault, so the more leaks the better for the Dems.

You’d think this guy Julian would have already figured out that he’s painted a target on his own back.

People are going to lose their lives because of what he’s already released, and now he’s going to endanger even more lives by releasing more.

There are people in this world who will make it a personal crusade to hunt him down, even if our government won’t go after him.

I wouldn’t bet ten cents on this guy surviving to New Year’s, unless he’s got serious gov’t protection.

Britain and The US are at war in Afghanistan. As little as 2 years ago the CIA and NI-5 would have shut this Wikileak operation down. Ask yourself why not now?

Is it because Obama has estranged the CIA? Is it because Obama has broken with the Brits and other NATO allies?Or is it because Obama wants to ruin the NATO efforts in Afghanistan. Is this payback to Europe over how he was treated in Copenhagen? This is a typical fascist ploy, ,and the buck stops with Obama.Alinsky-Cloward-Piven is the rule of the day in Obama world. This whole boondoggle pretty much proves it.The Obama Junta knew this was coming two weeks before it first appeared on Wikileaks, yet did nothing.

Once he’s arrested, they can work out the details later.

It appears that we do not have any field agents (spooks) or handlers to make this go away.

This Administration would not want to create any international incident or even a kerfuffle with Australia.

This Administration would rather give him the Presidential Medal of Freedom or some other prestigious award.

The grieving and angry family of a soldier killed because of this, is not going to be Bush’s fault. The family will blame Obama, and so will the majority of the country.
Not aggressively going after this guy won’t help the dems at all...it will hurt them.

If someone was posting classified information on the web for the enemy to see and exploit, at what point does the perp (and his assets) become a valid military target?

I remember that many here were happy that Wikileaks was exposing government scandals and incompetence when it came to global warming. When it comes to exposing the failures of Obama’s war, however, they want to string them up.

The information, which includes evidence of Obama’s total incompetence, would never have seen the light of day had it not been for Wikileaks (which was applauded here for its key role in exposing similar scandals in global warming). Perhaps we need to start seriously examining this information to understand the failings of Obama’s war.
