My wife and I leave next Friday for a traveling camping trip. We tow an Airstream trailer. I had planned to stay in a few State campgrounds to say a few bucks... maybe not now.
I would have been armed anyway, but this will remind me to maintain situational awareness a bit more. Even though my dog is “well groomed”, he is a 2 year old German Shepherd dog that has become protective of both of us, so he should also help... at least be a good alarm.
This kind of nightmare takes some of the fun out of being an American anymore.
My the couple RIP.
Prayers for y’all to have a safe and enjoyable trip, Gator113.
My husband and I thought about doing the same, but we’ve decided it’s probably better to just leave the camper at home and pay for accomodations along the way.
It’s a shame that we have come to a point in this country where it’s almost necessary to be wary of all strangers regardless of how friendly, and harmless, they may seem to be.
It is getting so that one doesn’t feel safe anywhere. This happened just a day or 2 ago in Amarillo:

Apparently they weren’t in a state campground but somewhere isolated on a private ranch
You're probably aware, but if not, hotels and motels, especially those on the lower end of the economic scale, are generally loaded with felons, people on the run, the down and out, borderline homeless etc., etc...
