Arizonas SB 1070 immigration law went into effect a week ago, albeit with its most contested provisions blocked until November, at least. But the laws economic impact on the state may be lingering. After the law was announced, boycotts of the state sprang up around the country, and officials from the tourism industry worried theyd be hard hit, issuing a statement in May that the law could easily have a devastating effect on visitation to our state.
According to at least one metric, the boycotts did make an impact. The Arizona Republic reported this week that fewer companies and organizations are choosing Arizona to host conventions and meetings in the state because of the law:
I like it. Where can I buy one to set in my window facing Washington D.C.?
Is there any hard evidence to support this clame, or is the MoT just making $#!+ up again?
clame = claim
Next time I’ll use the spellcheck. :)
Does Arizona really care that much about Libtard patronage?
I wouldn’t believe anything I read in the financially troubled Arizona Republic. and even if we are losing revenue because of SB1070 we’re still up on the deal due to reduced costs from the leaches leaving.
A large illegal immigrant population hurts reputation and business’ even more...
This is probably why the undocumented Muslim doesn't visit Arizona.
You are right. No one should believe what they read in the Arizona Republic. Complete far left propaganda. Tourism is way up in AZ.
As per the leeches leaving, a friend of mine lives in the Valley. They had people living across the street who continually caused problems. They had different ‘relatives’ with CA plates visit throughout the year. Friend said he never saw someone with so many family members. Every week there would be a new set of cars and ‘family’ members. The police were called....nothing ever came of it.
The people blasted their car horn when they wanted the children to come and get in the car instead of calling them. They’d blast the music you hear in Mexican restaurants. Trouble all the way around.
A week before 1070 was supposed to go into effect, they disappeared. They took off in the middle of the night. The owner of the house who had rented to the people came to my friend’s house asking if he had seen them leave because they had trashed the house, stolen appliances, destroyed the garage, and worst of all, left a dog tied in the back yard (not visible to neighbors) in 114 degree heat. The dog was in a terrible state when the property owner found him.
Long story short, 1070 worked. The POS left because they were afraid they’d be sent packing. Isn’t it amazing how the bleeding hearts defend people like this who’d leave a little dog to die in 114 degree heat.
There was a post on FR earlier this week that many hotels are actually experiencing a boom.
I wonder what community will adopt these outstanding individuals. I’m hoping LA.
I read a week or so ago that Arizxona hotel bookings are up. I’m going to Hawaii in Nov-Dec timeframe. Usually fly into SF, stay a couple of days and then continue on to Hawaii. This time I’m gonna see if I can stop off in an AZ city.
Having murderous illegal criminals roaming about and areas that are not safe for Americans to travel in(public land no less)are a lot more devastating on visitation than any illegal laws will ever be.
CA’s 834b seems to be a near carbon copy of SB1070 .....
Ping!
